Could you please make it so that /leaveall actually leaves *all*?! Are you storing this data structure in two places or something? /leave and the Leave button under Chat options don't affect these aberrant channels, yet /setchannelnumber does? When the engine saves the UI settings to file it doesn't check for channels that you aren't able to join and eliminate them? Seems like a developer could spend a half hour doing some cleaning up in this code and get this working the way it should be. Not a big deal, just annoying.
bump , i need to know how to fix it =/ , my good chars still trying to chat in freeport channels.....lol

my channels got all messed up too... I ended up removing the main tab and remaking one from scratch to fix the issue.

I'm assuming this happened to you for the same reason it happened to me: you loaded your uisettings for a new toon from an old one. There's a workaround that will help you fix this for your new toon and avoid it in the future. First, make a backup of the uisettings file for the toon you want to use as a template. The filename will look like this: servername_charname_eq2_uisettings.ini Login to that toon and leave ALL of the channels. Every last one, even the common ones. Scrub the UI of anything that's specific to that character, and get it exactly the way you would want a new character to start out. Log out. Go into your EQ2 folder and find your uisettings file for that toon. Take that file and rename it. Name it something like: my_ui_template_eq2_uisettings.ini Then restore that toon's uisettings from the backup you made, so that you don't have to go about rejoining all your channels. That will give you a clean template that you can use not only to fix your new toon's issues, but to load for any other new alts you roll. Just type /load_uisettings and pick your template from the list.

So essentially the option to use another character's UI settings doesn't work and you're better off never using that when making a new character until SOE fixes it to not try to give you channels you can't have?

There are a couple ways to get around this bug. You can leave the channels from the original character first as described above. Also there's a program on eq2interface.com that allows you to edit your channels in your ini file. (It's in French but still easy to use if you don't understand French.) Othesus - Dirge - Lucan DLere Vaspar - Fury - Lucan DLere
