I just noticed this today - wish I would have known about it.

My 5 room house had lots of Halasian Bearskin Rugs back when there were high rent status reduction.

I know these got nerfed a long time ago to be in-line with other items of their teir.

But when they got nerfed, the ones already placed in your house still counted as the original status ( which was good since people/I specifically payed a premium for someone to spend alot of time just making these)

So I just happen to check my rent upkeep because I was re-arranging items and I am now paying around 13K status a week now when I thought I was paying none.

When did this happen ??? - How long have I been paying the extra 13K status ?

I am pretty sure I did not see this in any update notes.

I REALLY WISH I WOULD HAVE KNOWN ! - I would have not unloaded all that collection items that I no longer had room for.

THX SOE

This was already stated that the bear rugs where supose to be reduced a long patch ago. There was a bug that didn't update rooms with them currently. The dev handling the house move noticed the bug. Apparently not many reported the bug =P. So it was fixed there was never a grandfather clause on these items.

The only grandfather clause i have ever seen in eq2 is some tradeskill items like cobalt armour.

If your interested though and like the look of the bearskin rug (just would like it with higher status reduction) you can still buy the higher status reduction ones from the Ironforge exchange I believe at 10,000 faction with them. Each one cost 10,000 status and a bit of coin so you can argue about whether its worth it but the high status reduction versions (400 or some silly amount like that) are still in the game, just a little more difficult to acquire. Edited due to lack of spelling.

Yeah, I have to agree, the bearskin rug nerf was total bull. I spent a great deal of money having about forty of them made, only to have them screwed up a week later. What the #%@& was the point of that, SOE?

The bug would cause the following behavior: - If the status reduction was lowered on an item that you had placed in your house, the difference in status reduction would never be removed from your house. You would be 'stuck' with extra status, even if you picked up every item in your house. - More importantly, if the status reduction was raised on an item that you had placed, the difference would be removed whenver you pick up the item (or move). Since the difference was never added, you could get 'stuck' with negative status. In the past, several carpentry items were changed to reduce the status reduction, but because of how the calculation code worked, if you had one of these items placed, the difference in reduction was never applied. You are now seeing the correct reduction. My apologies that this appears to have come out of nowhere.
It's only been since GU 35. It was a bug that they didn't change a long time ago.

Im ok that this got fixed since it was a bug.

However, I see the post above from 'in testing feedback' that has the quote from the developer. But I am not reading all of these forums to keep up to date on changes in the game. I do read the update notes, and I think anyone who wishes to be informed about changes in the game should read those notes.

The big problem that I do have is: a change like this that could really impact some people (even if it was a bug fix) should be mentioned in the update notes !!

it was mentioned in the update notes with the reduced status on them like a year ago.

The devs almost never post that they're fixing an exploit. That you were exploiting this bug doesn't mean they should make an exception for you.

While the rug had a very high reduction, it did consume a lot of subs (pre LU24), much more than the average T5 combine. I'm not sure what it is now, but if it requires 10+ roots it probably should be a bit higher than regular T5 items, but lower than a rare. agressiv

Well take a look at the amount of status reduction you are paying for versus cost. Acrylia furniture (at the time I paid for mine) was giving me 900 status reduction with a cost of about 50-70g per piece. That's less than 1g per 10pts of status reduction obtained (which is about what I would have paid for bearskin rugs at the time). So I got roughly the same status reduction/coin with less items. Of course it's a moot point for me now since I moved to Neriak.

I honestly never felt that stacking a huge amount of these things into a house was a good idea and it's been stated over and over that eventually these things would be adjusted.

On a side note... how long before they decide to 'adjust' it so that we can't use strong boxes for inventory slots instead of bags/backpacks? I'm sure they'll get to that one eventually too....

I remember seeing a post that said the bearskin rugs would maintain their original status reduction as long as they were not moved at all in the house. So picking them up and moving them around caused them to revert to the current status reduction. I could be wrong though.

My swashy can carry around over a ton in weight, but there are'nt back packs large enough to carry all my special stuff. I need those boxes! There is no way I can carry all my various resist gear without em. And my harvests, various rares, odds 'n ends, extra weapons, different types of foods, and drinks. Poisons, potions, collection quest rewards, collection quest bits, L&L parts, outdated armor, those candles I keep meaning to place in my house, that egg thing that I'm really going to finish one of these days, all those quest bits that I no longer have any idea what to do with, some weird yellow powder, another weird, (though white), powder, harvesting tools, my bug shocker from SS, black mask from the halloween event, little black book from Frosfell, those few frostfell harvests and recipes I still have, snowballs, fruitcake, at least one snowglobe, (the one that plays the Antonican Waltz), a decorative frostfell present, (blue I think), a bed, (I have no idea why), a bixie wing ring that I got -somewhere-, a couple pieces of leather armor, and a nice weapon that I'm going to pass to my fury alt one of these days, extra throwing daggers, a beetle carapace, couple of meaty bones, some bags of peat, (or something), some stinky water, a shipping crate thing from Loping Plains, some sort of warg hypnotizer widget, (also from loping plains), several adept I's for various classes, (none of them swashy), a shield I attuned, but never use, a shield I never attuned, but I plan on using eventually, two or three pieces of nice jewelry I can't use til level 70, my Jboots, another pair of boots that I don't wear very often, a droag plushy I got -somewhere-, and some strange looking container, that looks like an internal organ, (and I don't know where I got it, or what it does).
