I just started on PVP (mainly because conan is due out end of the year and i'll be looking to try that out, and wanted to get climatised to PVP).

I'm pretty well established on PVE though, so moving to eq2 PVP isn't really an option, i have 3 raid geared 70 toons and am pretty content waiting for avatars to spawn and playing PVP casualy while i wait.

I've found VERY little info or help from the game it's self to explain how PVP works and its left me with many questions regarding the differences from PVE. I've checked these forums for a while now and search has yeilded nothing, neither has brousing the oldest posts... seems likely these questions have been asked many times before, but we have new forums, so old posts dont exist.

1) What is Fame, what does it do, how do you find out how much you have?

2) There is an unsual faction gain when killing the oposition players, does this faction do anything useful? and why does it start at -10k?

3) I've seen many PVP reward items that cost status and tokens? linked in class forums, but i've never found a vendor in either city that offers these items. where are these merchants? and how do you go about obtaning the rewards (other than the obvious of killing players )

4) When you're killed and you loose coin and items... is this level dependant? luck? and what items can be lost? anything thats tradable... or just anything?

5) Can someone confirm that the minimum level to engage in PVP is 10? (im considering having a crafter/harvester thats under said level to help get crafted items and raws needed to fight all the twinks

thats all i can think of for now...

... oh and if anyone can link me to a general "PVP FAQ" or similar "things i wish i'd known earlier" type post relating specifically to PVP that'd be great also.

You gain fame by killing players ranked 1 rank above or below you, or the same rank as you. It was intended to be an indication of PvP skill, but it didn't quite pan out like that.
2) There is an unsual faction gain when killing the oposition players, does this faction do anything useful? and why does it start at -10k?

Faction is used for buying PvP gear. The earliest gear (lvl20) needs around +15k before you can buy it (I could be off a little on that amount). These items also cost gold and status. You can find the vendors for each class in each city. Q side vendors can be found in QH.

3) I've seen many PVP reward items that cost status and tokens? linked in class forums, but i've never found a vendor in either city that offers these items. where are these merchants? and how do you go about obtaning the rewards (other than the obvious of killing players )

Tokens are earnt when killing others in PvP. Sometimes when you loot chests there are tokens in them. You can 'use' each token to give you a small faction reward based on the tier ot token you loot. A killing a tier 3 opponent will give you a lvl 20 token for example. The tier7 tokens can be saved up to purchase the fabled PvP gear sets for each class in Fae Court in Lesser Faydark. You need 100 tokens each for Feet head and hand slots, then increacing amounts for other slots.

4) When you're killed and you loose coin and items... is this level dependant? luck? and what items can be lost? anything thats tradable... or just anything?

When you die, you lose a percentage of your cash you are carrying. I dont know the exact amount, but can be as high as bout 70%. ALWAYS keep your money in the bank. You can also drop treasured/handcrafted items, adept spells, and other vendor trash items. Some people say you can drop mastercrafted, but I have never seen that. You cannot drop legendary, fabled or no-trade items.

5) Can someone confirm that the minimum level to engage in PVP is 10? (im considering having a crafter/harvester thats under said level to help get crafted items and raws needed to fight all the twinks

Yep, level 10. Each zone has different level ranges. Newbie zones including Ant/CL has a range of 4. Anyone 4 levels above or below you can attack you. TS/Nek is 8 levels, moving up as you move further from the cities. T7 zones are unlimited. Exiles are attackable by anyone at any level.

thats all i can think of for now...

Welcome to PvP
