So I'm now considering which AA's to take first... I've done some research and found alot of talk saying it's best to spec in the Sorc tree first. I also hear alot of people saying WIS & STR are probably the best AA's (having looked through them, I think I also like the sound of them the most). Are these lines any good for a player who solo's often? I do group occasional but often my work hours mean I have to solo.

Second thing I wanted to ask was.. I'm guessing you only spec to 4 Wis & Str to enable you to continue the tree? There wouldn't be much point in putting all 8 ranks into Str or Wis would there?

Cheers for any info!

Pretty much a consensus that the sorcerer aa > wizard aa Pretty much a consensus that sorcerer wis > all Pretty much a catfight on agi and str as second choice with the majority of raiders favoring agi. Some like sta as second choice for soloing A few even like int especially for earlier levels. We have some of the best choices of any class so pick what suits your play style. As far as sorcerer wis highly recommended is the followng: 7 in freehand 8 in brainstorm 2 in the end 4 in all others As far as sorcerer str recommended for the soloer 8 in spell expertise 2 in catalyst 7 in deflecting staff 4 in all other

Agree'd with the above poster. A tad more specifically, wis should be a definite no matter what. It is hands-down the best line for dps increase we have. As for the second path, as said above you have a few choices, mostly depending on what you focus on the most. Solo Questing / Exping: Stamina Solo Heroic / Groups: Strength Raids: Agility The main reason agility stands out best on raids is the fact that the reduced casting times and refresh times play a huge role in a long fight. Catalyst may give you a guarantee'd crit but when you can fit in an additional extra Ice Nova on a raid mob, it is far more damage, and that's not even factoring in the faster casting of your smaller nukes as well, and the fact that it's a much smoother aggro curve. In groups or on named heroics, on the other hand, weather you cast faster or not, you will usually get in a single ice nova on any given fight and it is often refreshed in time for the next fight anyways, or far enough off where a faster cast time won't make the difference on such short fights and either way it would be every-other mob.

I have a question about the WIS/STR setup. Does wielding a 2H weapon count as having the offhand empty, thus allowing for the WIS abilities to be active?

It's that particular weapon requirement that makes me nearly about the only Wizard that doesn't use the wis line, I like the visual of a staff too much .

<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: "Times New Roman"">I've speced to Str/Agi. It's not a very popular combination but for some reason I manage to be the top dps of my guild when we go raiding. My reasoning behind the Str/Agi choice is that with agi you increase the amount of spells you cast and recast as well as increasing the number of times you will crit, thus having a synergistic effect. I also have different gear I use when I solo and when I raid so picking wis would hamper me in terms of being able to switch out my weapons for optimal configuration.

I totally agree.

I started with the WIS tree though, because it offers many things that are helpful to lower level players. That being said, as soon as I've completed it, I will respec to either the STR or AGI tree, and work the other one as I go. (after picking up manaburn).

Faster casting time and faster refresh time are both too good to pass up.

The sorc tree is the way to go at first. Some players will suggest throwing 10 points into the ward with magi's shielding, but I've found that your 10 points goes much further in the sorc tree. *shrug*

10 points into the magi shielding to start off the EoF tree is imho way better than putting them into the power line, magi shielding can save you pretty easily at the lower levels. however once you get the 21 points in the EoF tree respec to manaburn as it is godly for solo and herioc content.
