Anyone else having rift do 0 damage but use a component and burn the timer?

<span style="color: #ff9900">Rift has always done a whopping 0 damage. However Rift Slam which follows does the posted amount. Hopefully that is what is going on with you. The idea is that the "Rift" that is created does no damage, but the resulting fall does. That is also the excuse for the spell causing little, if no, aggro unless you pull additional mobs with it.</span>

we realise that, its sometimes doing 0 damage - period. i mean casting it on a large grp of VVVs and it not killing any with rift slam. its happening 50% of the time to me. when it happens its also not appearing at all in combat logs (since its doing zero damage)

Same here, ever since LU. Good example is in PP, I cast rift on the little cyclop mobs, and ZERO of them get damaged (12 or more?), the next mob 2 get hit and so on. In HOS right now and its yet to hit a single mob <img src="/smilies/9d71f0541cff0a302a0309c5079e8dee.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> Yet warlocks in chat say they have no problems I hope this is some huge mistake and not another screw you warlocks update <img src="/smilies/9d71f0541cff0a302a0309c5079e8dee.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> <hr />

I also noticed the Rift bug while soloing in Poets - on the cyclops rings. Correct sometimes it hits... most of the time it doesn't. My bet is something in the LU. Although it ocurred to me that it could be a bugged item; but, not likey. I realize proc/spell interaction in the programming can be very complex. But Rift is a signature spell of the warlock. They need to get this fixed asap. Could you imagine if this was a wizzerd's Ice Nova. The devs would cease everything else until their precious wizzerds were fixed.

I've noticed in pvp the last few times I fought a warlock it does no damage. I'm just tossed into the air and stunned for a bit.

it happened to me last night in EH.. 1 out of 7 casts was 0 effect didn't even get the rocks.

<p> Ok tried in pvp same result. It showed up on the parse as 0 damage this time tho. I know the 6 we were fighting had crap gear but it read as 6 resists. Possible with aoe immunity I guess but happened several times and they werent good enough to time aoe immune imo. </p><p> Went back to my farmy zone and same the mobs would look like they knockedback but not up. 0 damage on 12 mobs not in parser again. It felt like if i waited for the mobs to engage me and stop running around it tended to hit more often. So fool around with timeing your rift. I was hitting focused and casting rift first while the mobs were charging me and missed every time. I didnt use the focused and that seemd to help because they either got closer or focused itself bugged it. Im not sure which. </p><p> Perhaps this update is to fix the bug. But, alas i bet we get put on the backburner for 4 months. </p>

ZERO hits 2nd wave, cast it as they came running ... ZERO hits First Scarab Room, final wave of beetles ... <b>UPDATE - FIX </b> Seems you have to let the spell finish before casting anything else, so wait until the mobs land and rift will damage as it normally did. I hope this is just going to be a temp fix as it is gonna ruin my fun in lyceum/DT getting 10k dps on trash mobs if I have to wait 5 seconds to cast rift and let it finish. Anyway, hopefully until SOE fix this, this is a temp fix. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /><b> </b>

Rift is bugged and the devs need to fix it. Having to wait for the rift to complete before casting another spell is a real problem.

having narrowed down the issue helps but warlock waiting on a a spell to finish any class for that matter but dps especially negates what we do... but the research by you guys to narrow down the prob is appreciated.

Anyone notice yourself getting a lot of aggro from the spell when it does go through? I was getting aggro with it almost every time I cast it in labs yesterday because I cast it super early since it didn't cause aggro before...

So they bugged it trying to fix the aggro most likely. Its not working at all for me in pvp now. Its my number 1 dps spell in pvp. Or was rather.

<p>i just tested this myself and have noticed my dps to be considerably lower since last update. I noticed that indeed if u cast Rift followed by a direct dmg spell it does zero dmg. I was using focused casting - rift - nebula on an encounter of 5 and nebula was the only registered dmg. I noticed if u cast something say corrupt gift dircetly after u rift it still will do dmg. This is a serious problem since the majority of my dps lies within the spell lineup i use when focused casting is up and Rift is one of those spells..if i am unable to cast dircet dps after RIFT its rather useless to me in raids this needs to be addressed asap.</p><p>thank you lockeye</p><p>oppknox - 70 warlock Blackburrow --nemesis--</p>

as of June 1st. Spells: * Casting another spell along with the Warlock Rift will no longer negate the damage done by Rift.

<p>Macleod,</p><p>Yes, I noticed new agro with Rift as well. Used it to open two fights in HOS earlier in the week, cast no other spells and waitied for Rift to finish and got agro from the adds. Never been a problem before.</p>

I asked a guildee to try it on a lab raid today so I'll report back if they come up with anything definitive.

<p>the dmg from rift isnt generated from us directly.....its the Rift slam on termination that does the dmg, therefore it made sense not to get the caster aggro. This was actually very NICE considering we get enough aggro from all our other aoe/encounter spells, rift was one of those spells that if it is now gonna generate aggro......were pretty much f*ed , instant aggro on anything other than a single target if cast along with any other aoes or encounters which again is how we do massive encounter/aoe dmg. In inner sanctum tonite i defenitely noticed "aggro" from that spell. Where in circumstances in the past i used the same spell config..same group setup and never pulled aggro where tonite it was apparent i was doomed. Rift damage problem has been fixed, can anyone confirm if the aggro issue has been also? would be nice to know/be told if this was an intended change by the devs

Adding myself to the "please re-fix Rift" crowd here. Hope you are still around, Lockeye. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> I have to hope this hate generation is not intentional, because if it is, there is flat out no way to use this on a raid with average DPS. If you were to cast Rift on a group with several mobs, that will either be the only AOE you can cast without dying or (more likely) you will die. This leaves the spell as a solo-only tool which is pretty sad because it was a wonderful "free" spell to use in a group/raid. Please, please get this restored to as it used to be ASAP!
