Since when did I get reactive smites?

  So ,i was soloing in Mistmoore Catacombs the other day, using totems of the Chameleon to sneak around, primarily looking for ?'s. Inevitably I got aggroed by a bat, I started fighting it and got two more added. Even though these bats are solo mobs, more than one can sometimes spell trouble for a cleric. Anyway, while i was fighting the three bats, i noticed i was hitting the two adds with smites every once in a while when they attacked me. i started attacking more just using auto attack and saw that i not only was hitting with reactive smites but was getting random buffs and debuffs (on the mobs) without casting anything. Has anyone else noticed anything like this or I have I been blessed with a positive bug?

Weird, on my conjurer, I was attacked by multiple mobs... and one of the mobs I was not targeting was randomly casted upon by one of my spells.

My first assumption would be this is from gear you have. For example, the ring from Obelisk of Blight - common enough, and popular enough - deals damage to targets attacking you (working as a form of thorns), as do many other items (which proc "when hit&quot<img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />. Have any such "on hit" proc gear that might be causing this?

<p>Yeah it's most likely from the signet of light from darkness, the ring from end mob in OOB.  That thing has a damage shield type effect, which procs pretty often, especially if you have the blessings achievement ability.</p>

  Yea, must be the ring. It's just that my smites were hitting for 800-1000 dmg, which is a lot more than the ring states. Thanks for the replies <img src="/smilies/283a16da79f3aa23fe1025c96295f04f.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />!

Definitely the Signet of Light and Darkness if you had it on. I was confused at first too the first few times it proc'd.

<p>After last night I finally realize just how awesome of an item the Signet of Light from Darkness is. I was solo farming Poets and wasn't very careful during the first ring event. I didn't pay attention to power conservation and as I was starting the 3rd (out of 4) wave I realized that I only had enough power left for 1 more heal. I knew I'd never survive 2 full waves with no power, so I just sat back with auto attack on expecting to watch myself die.</p><p>To my astonishment I had the same amount of health when the 4th wave started as I did when the 3rd had begun! I ended up burning my emergencies, and it was a close thing, but I managed 2 full waves while completely out of power!</p><p>The Signet was proccing the heal just enough to keep me up and doing decent damage at the same time, and I don't even have the +25% proc AA. Can't wait to see how much it procs once I finish that AA line.  <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></p>

That ring is a templar's best friend,  is a must have item for any templar, really increase our dps.
