my wife and i are back in the cursed MMO world again after a much needed break. we tried eq2 for a couple weeks back when it first came out, after spending a few years on eq1... anyway, we are looking to duo like 90% of the time (being a wanted couple when grouping is needed would be a bonus). we've messed around with a few combos, but haven't found the perfect match for our style yet. shes pretty easy going about it, but i can never seem to stick with one class. from what i read, the bards seem to do a bit of everything. and i think maybe that would be a good thing for me. ive looked around the web, and cant find any info on how well a Dirge Troubador Duo would work. any thoughts? thank you in advance.

not to great maybe you should try something like wizard / troub combo or troub/ill if ur set on having a troub i would definately have a caster backing u up (one thing troub dehate will keep agro off the group so no need for 2 bards) (your buffs dont stack with each others so its pointless)

Personally I would say if you are going to duo, go for diversity. Probably not the greatest Idea to go with two of a similar class if you want to be really effective. Especially if you are looking for groups, they may not want two of the same kind of class. I would so go Troub or Dirge and a different role to compliment it. IE: a Tank, Healer, or Mage. Just personal opinion, but I hope it helps.

Fury/troub works very well too. Really the best classes to duo a troub with are the ones that root and nuke, since troubs will help them do that better/faster. Also, having a mage with their own troub will be an asset to any group Having a fury/troub and you'll be the most popular duo for any mage you group with.

If ya want a dirge, I'd suggest a SK, necro or a healer with melee APs (with shammy being the best).

Being any tank/healer combo would maybe be a better choice, since you could just grab some dps if you want to tackle bigger stuff.

Two bards could work. Though bards don't tank well (no defensive stance), can't heal (cept dirges get one at 50 or something), and have some of the worst dps around... so you'll be lacking a bit in every category. Having two bards in a group rocks though, they can buff a group out the wazoo and can make for an amazing group.

Yes, Troubador + Dirge in a group is actually fun and quite effective b/c you can use the best of both buffs without overlapping--only one uses Bria's and the other their deaggro/aggro. CoB and PotM also is kind of amusing.

But the pair is not a very efficient set to duo with (other duos referenced could take on much tougher opponents). Further, getting a group with a single bard can be challenging enough--convincing groups that 2 bards is a good idea will be an uphill battle often.

If anyone has ever seen the Hehe's "Ameahehe & Aemahehe" i think is their names, on the Nagafen server, they are an increadable dirge / troub duo. I have seen the two of them tackle content that should not be taken out by a couple of bards lol. They are also a very nasty pvp duo.

I would say go for it bud! After seeing those two pull it off, I think its a great duo set up. Their is so much diversity with those two classes, yet their so same at the same time. Both toons will benifit from both sets of buffs.

I've duoed fine with a dirge. They have a decent amount of synchronicity.

accualy i beg to differ troub /dirge duo is truely amazing

with buff sharing u can both run ur personal buffs one put up power regen and the other health

then optimize your buffs so that you both enhance eachother and then u can proceed to take on just about anything

this is speaking from experiance a drige troub duo is extreemly functional

I grouped my troub with a dirge last week, just two of us, and we killed even-level things pretty quickly. And it was fun I usually group my troub with my friend's monk, and it's like a hot knife in melted butter. I'm guessing that a troub or a dirge go well with just about anything - although I find I do better if the other person can taunt or nuke hard.

But I'd say, truly, play the duo you think you will enjoy. If troub/dirge is what you want to do, go for it! Using the 'it's harder to get a group' argument only holds weight if that's your goal - to get into groups of people you don't know, and raid, and be uber and whatnot. If your goal is to spend time together, or with in-game friends... the group argument won't matter nearly as much. It all boils down to how you want to spend your gametime, and with whom.

So I say go with the class you really want to play. Despite all the things that I think could be better, I really truly enjoy my trouby. I also have a baby dirge, fun to play - but I still love my trouby better. She's a challenge

I can say from experience that the Wizard/Troub combo is also very fun and will permit you to take on just about anything (the Wizzie has to get good at rooting/nuking). The Troubador buffs and debuffs compliment a Wizard's abilities perfectly IMO. I've been dual boxing a Wizzie/Troub duo and even though I will always enjoy the type of total annihilation the Wizzy brings, I'm finding the Troub to be a TON of fun to play. If leveling fast is one of your goals and blowing stuff up sounds like fun, consider the Wiz/Troub duo. But it does essentially come down to what you think would be most fun to play. And a Dirge/Troub combo sounds interesting--talk about massive buffage!
