Hmm, that has not been my experience at all...

It is very obvious when armor goes grey that the mit fx are indeed effected. I experienced that today in fact, as my toon hit 62 and my armor is now not working anywhere near as well as it used to, which I can tell because I was fighting the same mobs before and after. I also seem to get interrupted more now that my armor is grey, though I admit that there could be some other cause for that, I do not know for certain if mit has any effect on interruptions.

Kat

I'm not at home so I can't test this myself right now..

The way to tell if armor is still based on item level is by equipping items with similar amounts of mitigation, but different item levels. In your Persona screen, you'll see similar/same mitigation NUMBER... but when you highlight, the PERCENTAGE will be different.

If this is no longer the case, then they indeed change it (not really sure if that could be considered a "nerf" unless your percentage of mitigation went down on your higher level items).

i got a level 58 item with 433, and a 67 item with 513 (or close to that), my raw mit number goes up by 70 or whatever, and my mit% goes up 0.2%

0.2% doesn't seem worth the pain and suffereing to get the higher level item.

No it doesn't, lol.. but that can be more of a factor of an already high mitigation and the "diminishing returns" mechanic they added a while ago.

If you already have like 5k mitigation, then an extra 70... even with a 9 level disparity, won't be that much extra % in avoidance.

Hmm... take off all the rest of your armor and defensive stance so you have low mitigation and do the test again. How much is the percentage increase then?

And no, I'm not saying this just to get you naked...

another method would be to find lower tier gear with higher mit than current tier gear and see if the % goes up or down

Where did people ever get the idea that an item's mitigation becomes less effective just because an item is grey? Before LU13, an item's mit scaled up within a certain level range, but didn't drop when it hit its max. 400 mit is 400 mit whether its on a lv 58 item or a level 65 item. It's the level of the mob that determines the mit curve. When you level up, your % mitigated will drop, not because your equipment is less effective, but because your display is showing the curve against a mob 1 level higher. When you were one level lower, your mitigation against these mobs was basically the same, with some adjustments made based on the mob's con color to YOU, not your equipment. Your mitigation against a mob 1 level lower is basically the same as it was before you leveled.

Occam's Razor people. Why would they add in extra code to recalculate an item's mitigation based on its level and con color to you, when they could just sum the raw mit totals of all your equipment. Unneccisarily convoluted code = slower code = slower servers.

In one of the discussion threads to the combat revamp a developer confirmed the fact that items "lose" mitigation when your level is above the item level. Some player even tested it with T1 armor and got negative mitigation. Edit: PS: I don't like this fact. 100AC should be 100AC at every player level. It would be much easier to compare the "value" of an item.

You can notice this on every character that with every level-up your effective mitgation goes down. When KoS came out everyone first screamed that the miti of Xegonite was just the same as Cobalt .. until they noticed that Xegonite however gave much better protetion due to this mechanism.
