View Full Version : I seem to have run out of quests

A quick request to the devs, if any check this thread: I'm a currently lvl 65 soloer, and I've run out of quest content. Checking eq2i.com, I might have one or two level-appropriate solo quests, but besides that, my journal has nothing but heroic quests and old grey quests. Any chance we might get a new solo questline in the Loping Plains, or somewhere similar? I doubt I can make it five more levels on nothing but grey quests, and flat-out grinding aint exactly my thing . In the devs' favor though, this is the first time in 65 levels and playing since launch that I've ever had to say this, and I think that's quite a good job done .

If you have ran out of quests and don't want to go out to just "grind". Well, you might be out of luck. What I would do is find a friend that needs to do a lore and legend quest and help them kill the mobs for their updates. Yeah, I suppose it is still grinding, but at least you can put it under the topic "helping others".

My Coercer is level 62. I've done all the solo Lesser Faydark quests. I have I think 2 or 3 heroic quests to do. I'm evil, as much as I tried I couldn't get the quest from the fae court. It's on an island, see invis guards all around.

TT was just a bunch of repeatable quests, I found if you do enough of those they stop at one point. Even did about all of the Loping plains quests I could find, have a couple left that are simply too high for me. Have a few left on Barren Sky, I've done all of them on another character so I know theres not a *whole* lot there. For some reason, I can't get the quest that you call Hooluk's with reeds for, I guess I'm too low. I don't know. I've even done a few in Bonemire. Don't forget to pickup the Catalog quests from Penny Dreadful. Those are all relatively easy, just alot of travelling. Working up finishing PoF, Maj'Dul and SS quests. =/

its impossible to run out of quest in everQUEST 2 Oo

Re-typed post:

Another solo quest line in Loping Plains or in the Bonemire zones would help tremendously. Both my level 66 Bruiser and my level 69 Warden pretty much ran out of solo quests around level 65. Sure there are lots of grey quests left but how fun are those? They can also do a few heroic quests that will turn grey next level. That's about it. They have done all the non-grey cataloguing quests and L&L plus a bunch of grey L&L (but mentored while examining the last piece). Ruins of Kunark will likely have solo quests all the way from 65-80 but it's a very long wait for a stuck soloer who isn't interested in grinding. I'm fortunate enough to have friends I regularly group with but would also like to be able to do quests when they are not online.

SkuaII wrote:
its impossible to run out of quest in everQUEST 2 Oo
Is it difficult to run out of quests in general? Sure. But to run out of quests for a specific playstyle (solo, group, raid, etc.), it's apparently quite possible .

You could check to see whether you have some of those book quests you've not done...the kind where you go around collecting pages for, some from the ground, some from mobs.

there are actually more than 3k quests in eq2.... and i doubt you've done them all, but the problem with them is that even with exp turned off you leave many of them behind lvl wise..... cause the big masses of quests are lvl1-60 and you lvl insanely fast. there's always mentoring lowbie's though....

I think LoA has one, hoping to get that one done this weekend if it's the one I'm thinking anyways.

Even if you prefer soloing - you could always find someone to mentor and then your grey quests won't be grey and you will get your aa/xp. This will be even easier with the new grouping window coming out. You could have a good number of quests to mentor down with the GU coming out either tomorrow or next Wednesday. Find a new Arsai to mentor. This would be a great way to get some aa.

They said a while back that Looping Plains had much less content than they had hoped for at release. One of their goals was to add more T7 quest lines in LP in a future GU. This was a little while back, so I don't know if these plans were scraped or not.

I recall that post as well, but haven't seen anything new on it.

Gray quests? Spam level channels and find players working those quests at the right level and mentor. Heroic quests? Spam level channels for a group.

Now, granted you may not want to go do some of the grey ones but there is closer to 4000 quest in the game.

Try your hand at soloing Heroic quests. I did them quite frequently while leveling up. Should be doable for a Wizard. Learning to navigate, survive, and fight in Heroic dungeons can be a lot of fun. Stick with the non-EOF non-Instanced zones to start, though. Not all heroic mobs of the same level are equal.

SkuaII wrote:
its impossible to run out of quest in everQUEST 2 Oo

No it isnt. The only ones my main toon has left to do are ones which require lore drops at some of the lower levels [EDIT - and a few I didnt do after betrayal that require alignment to get and I refuse to betray again and lose all spells, etc]. It is always a challenge to find lower level toons to mentor for the sole purpose of just looking for lore drops.

That is another change that should be made - all quest starters should be body drops, period.

And beyond my prefference for soloing, the grey quests still in my journal are largely ones I wouldn't visit on another person. It's largely those old book quests where you have to kill twenty of a mob that only spawns like three at a time in the whole zone, then repeat that nine more times. Only reason they're still in my journal, is that I'm to stubborn to just delete the thing . Interstellarmatter: Yeah, I think I recall reading something like that, at one point. Hopefully the devs do still plan on following through with that.

I know you prefer solo quests, as I did with my necro up to about 64 and ran out. This was before EoF so you ran out a bit quicker heh.

I was never much of a grouper however I did group up for the hooluk hat and the MoA as I wanted the cool hat, and that wicked cool glowie chest icon heh. If you do plan on doing some group quests those by far were some of my favorite and each quest has at least one part that is completly solo.

Hooluk you need to sneak through the nest and touch the great egg without getting noticed by any mob in the zone.

MoA part 3 you get transformed into a dragon and need to solo HoF as a part of your trials.

Wish I had some more solo stuff to let you in on but that was a thorn in the devs side with every expansion after DoF.

Played many EQ2 classes for a few years now. One thing I noticed that if you restrict yourself to non-heroic non-gray quests, then at certain levels you do run out of quests. This happens at the end of each tier, i.e. levels 38, 48, etc.

There are still quests to do, but they are either too high (i.e. the mobs are orange) or very boring (i.e. spearfish in EL heh).

I found I had to grind two or three levels to make the orange mobs yellow, or to open up new quests at those levels. Forces me to stop solo AA gathering, and go group with others for a change.

Brag @ AB

I bet if you compare the number of quests that you have done with the number they have done, even though your journal is still packed, that you have done way more quests then they have.....

You havent run out of quests. You are just experiencing a big shift in the game design. There were a ton of quests 60 and below that allowed you to solo. However, the 60+ range has relatively few solo quest lines. The majority is heroic quests which do require grouping. Hopefully, the LFG tool that they are introducing today will help match players looking to do the same quests a lot easier than the chat channels. So, if you do not want to grind, you will need to group with other players and complete heroic quests.

There are 4000 or more total in the life of the game. Now, yes, there are some that are faction based that would not be available to those not in the faction. Some that are lvl based, like writs, and some that are no longer in the games, like some Acess quest. But it can be possible to get 3000 quest or close to it. The top quester has like 3400 or some such amount like that.

I just checked my quest database (yes, I need to get a life ) and, not counting todays patch there have been a total (give or take) of 4223 quest since launch.
