This came up in another post speculating on RoK and if guild halls would ever make it into game. In responding to this I realize that the problem of a heavy game addition might be a hinderance and came up with this alternative.

Please forgive me if its been suggested before.

How a guild hall could work:

I think maybe an instance hall ( like an inn room) where it would show (guild name) hall, instead of (player name)'s inn room. It would have to be a very large hall like room of course and be a different design for each city.

It would be cool if a door that would access inn rooms from inside would allow players to get to their individual inn rooms as well. But an instanced guild hall for meetings that could be furnished would be cool.

Also banners (furniture) that could be hung inside that would take on the same guild design that are on the cloaks would be cool.

To sum it up Im suggesting that a guild hall it self be a simple thing ( just a large instanced meeting room) with access to inn rooms from inside. Or even if they dont have access to inn rooms the hall would still be nice.

Awesome idea with banners displaying the cloak design. It's make the hall unique and feel like home.

To add, there should be access to the guild bank from the hall.

For design, a Great Hall would be cool, with side rooms for whatever your creativity can imagine (stores, bar, quarters, etc.)

It would actually be cool to have a stable with some horses in it just to simulate a working one

Maybe we'll get this kind of cool thing one day...

Being a member of a small guild tho havieng been a member of much larger ones, the need for guild houseing is probalby great. I have some ideas that seem to have merit when discussed with other people so I’m posting to see what others might think.. and maybe get the ideas in to the developers before anything permanent gets implemented.

Each city would have a building that would be its Guild Hall, this would act like an Inn room, the King or a designated person would Click on the door and Register the Guild name (visitors would enter through guilds and not individuals). The guild members automatically get different levels of access depending on their rank (customizable along with all the other rank options in the guild window).

The Hall for a guild then initialy costs some status, not a tonn, but a few thousand, and maybe a platinum to buy (these number are just temporary) then the upkeep would be much greater. The cost of the Hall would get shared by the guild, instead of the buyer of the Hall.

The Hall would be a large foyer with plenty of space to display Guild Trophies and knickknacks, there would be maybe 5 rooms and 2 or three stories. Rooms would be to house items useful to the guild ...like alters, or Crafting implements and other fun decorative stuff. The multiple instanced rooms would also help zoning in lag, since a guild full of items would make it almost impossible to load even with minimal graphic settings.

The upper floors would be for Individual guild member rooms (yes instances in instances) these rooms would be claimed by certain ranked members and cost status from the individuals.. this cost is deducted from the overall cost of the Hall... thus the guild members actualy support the house and its not just all on the Leaders. The Higher the guild level the more rooms available and whatnot ect ect. (I want plenty of room for innovative ideas and customization). Member rooms would be like single or 2 room apartments however they cannot support display cases, personal broker selling should be done in personal housing not guild. The room is to diffuse the status cost of the Hall and Prestige displays and personal trophies, (status reduction items). Rooms are not private and have the same assess restrictions as the hall itself (except only that person can add or more items in their room), the Person associated with the room is just who the status cost will come from.

With a guild hall some new items could be bought off the city merchants... namely A banker, and a broker, and a mendor, and maybe the gambeling goblin... and various useful npcs. This would make the hall a useful hang out for its members. Also tapestries of the guild heraldry could be bought.

Along with new Guild oriented house items, Possibly a way to add in game pictures into a picture frame that can be displayed, like take a snapshot and then play with the image, upload it to a Sony site and they paste it on a painting you bought so you can display it in the House. (this idea can go for regular housing as well as guild housing) though the pictures would have to be EQ2 snapshot images, would not be appropriate for other pictures to be displayed.

And that is so far what I have been thinking would be nice for eq2 and guilds. (note that ‘high level guild” does not and SHOULD not mean 80. Its hard enough fro some to get to lv 30), things should scale up with the guild, like lv 10 buy the hall 5 room building (no member rooms), 20 get an npc like a bank and 4 member rooms, and 30 the tapestries and another npc probably the broker (also guild hall broker would be collective broker space so anyone can add or remove items/coin (also rank customizable) and with 8 slots open for broker boxes). And so on. I believe you should get to enjoy the full benefits from your guild house without having to be in a maxed out guild level. Even have horse merchants too... Guilds could become miniature city environments with the important npcs being buyable for the prober guild level.

There's a post already in the General Discussion forum discussing guild halls. Might want to try putting these thoughts there instead of necroing a post 8 months old.

Leave Necromancy to trained professionals like myself. Do not try this at home.

Hey at least I actually did a search to see if my topic already existed instead of making a completely new post... this thread was just the first one to come up on my search.
