Hey all.

I recently decided to return to EQ/EQII and see what changes had been made over the last couple of years, so I logged into the old account and signed up for the universal subscription so I could play both games. I love what they've done to EQ, which I tried first, but then I reinstalled EQII and I have been having a blast with my new Templar.

I rolled on Guk, as it was the low pop server in the listing. Any thoughts on that? Should I have made a character on a more populated server? Also, I had the DoF expansion, which I installed. Is it worth buying any of the other expansions at this time, or should I wait till I get some levels?

Thanks!

I'll be on the lookout for the EoF box this week. If I can't locate one, I guess I'll go for the download. Time to read up on the achievements I guess.

Unless you pay a site like Direct2Drive for a retail box CD key, you will not have the KoS expansion included for free.

The only way that I know of to get the most out of your EoF purchase is to either get a retail box version of EoF, or to buy the retail CD-key from a site like Direct2Drive (you will still download the patches, but register the retail CD key).

If you download EoF from Sony you will only get the EoF content, but will not receive DoF and KoS included. I realize that you have DoF, but to not have to purchase KoS is a great deal.

Don't really know much about Guk. You may want to check out the population of the various servers around the time you will typically be playing to see which are higher population. This can be done by creating another character and examining the list of servers (once you get to that point). The list will show the servers and classify them as High, Medium and Low population. This classification is based solely on how many people are playing at that very time, not on how many characters are created for that server. So you should be able to see which server has a good deal of players at your playtime.

Good luck and have fun!

Thanks for the great replies so far.

The first store I hit did not have EoF, or any EQ boxes for that matter. I'll try a couple of other places, but I was utterly unsuccessful at finding an EQ Anniversary box last week at any retail store. The two stores that carried it only received one copy each, and both were gone. I had to go to ebay to find one. I may have to go that route for EoF as well..

I did join a newbie friendly guild on Guk, and everyone seems friendly/helpful, so I'll stick it out there. I just worry about putting time into a character and then not being able to get groups. I don't know how well Templar solos in the long run, but up to now I have a challenge taking on more than two mobs at the same level as me. I'm trying to do a quest in the Peat Bog that involves killing groups of 3 Gnolls that are all white to me, and I can only survive about 50% of the time.
