So, last night I followed some nifty instructions to get the test server; that's spiffy, it all works good.

But now, when I try to log back in to the other 'normal' EQ, the patch is taking -forever-, and doesn't seem to be getting much of anywhere. I made two seperate hot keys and everything like the instructions said, and all..I don't know if somehow I messed up getting the test server, or if this is..normal.

Does anyone have any idea what's up with this?

Peace;

.saber.

I believe when installing the game for exclusive use of the test server, that you will need to install it in a seperate directory structure...otherwise, you will constantly writing over "production" client files which in turn will require the patcher to re-download these files.

Woaah. I'm kinda dumb and that makes no sense to me;

I need to install the test thing in a seperate directory server? What's a 'directory server'?

Just install the test game into a different directory other then the directory that the production game is already installed at. If you install the test server version of the game into the same directory as the regular (production) game is intalled at, then you will continually be patching files over-and-over again each time you try to play the regular production game and conversely, the test server game.

Does that make sense?

Or would it go back to normal?

Thank for trying to help someone slow, like me, ehe. <3

Once you have done that, then fire up the regular game and let the patcher patch the regular game fully, and you should be good-to-go! Remember to delete the shortcut icon leading to the current test server location. Create a new shortcut icon to the new test server directory location.
