Sadly the keyboard settings keep clearing on me not only when I log but while I am playing as well. I am trying a new install of the game, and while it’s updating I thought I’d come here for some help since I have the feeling it won’t work. I know from the searches that this is an old bug but I had not found any recent posts about it. I had tried the workaround from this post from almost a year ago linked below but it didn’t work. At step 6) I couldn’t make any changes to the files, I got an error message saying the file had the properties of a read only file. I am currently using Windows XP Pro. Was there any specific program I am supposed to use for the .CFG files or is there an entirely new workaround for this? Or has it been patched and I’m just the “lucky” noob selected by the Bug Gremlins? I reposted the steps of the workaround below. http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/...833񑜖
1. Log on and set your custom keybinds as desired.

2. Save your keybinds by typing /save_keymaps eq2_keymap_custom.ini

3. From within the Options menu select Other from the Keyboard Layout drop-down list.

4. Log off EQ2

5. Inside the Layout directory make a copy of the EQ2-OtherMode.cfg file and rename it to EQ2-CustomMode.cfg

6. Edit this new CFG file so that it reads as:

name=Custom

options=

uisettings=

colors=

keymaps=eq2_keymap_custom.ini

7. Edit the eq2_recent.ini file so that the following line is changed

from: cl_configuration_file EQ2-OtherMode.cfg

to: cl_configuration_file EQ2-CustomMode.cfg

8. Log on and from within the Options menu select Custom from the Keyboard Layout drop-down list.

9. Confirm that the keybinds are working as desired.

10. Log off and reboot your computer.

11. Log back on and confirm that the keybinds are still working as desired.

Open the properties for that file and uncheck the Read Only option.

Use Notepad to edit the file.

Report back.

Ahh, thanks! That did the trick. It's a shame we have to do this sort of thing, I wish SOE would just fix their UI issues, it's not like they haven't had enough time. Thanks again!

I'm glad that it worked for you. Yes, this issue is on SOEs end and not ours. It's been a year now since they introduced this problem in a patch and have yet to address it properly. What's more concerning is that they are telling people that it's not their problem. This tells me that it's probably never going to be fixed despite the fact that it is their problem. O'well, we can't win them all.
