just started a templar on a pvp server. I heard that they were pretty tough in pvp, if mastered and such, and as it is one of the least popular professions that i've seen so far, i decided to give it a try in that i like the challenge of trying to make a character people think are chumps in pvp shine. I also hate being a FOTM type of character, (could have easily rolled a scout or one of the other well known uber pvp classes)
Anyway, what i'm looking for is advice. Do templars really fare well in pvp once they are decently geared and mastered and such? Also, is there any helpful pvp advice the seasoned pvp templars can give, even down to aa selections and battle tactics and such, i'd greatly appreciate it.

For Clerics it is all about the AA, get enough AA and you will hold your own.

One on one, at higher levels, Templars can hold their own very well. Basically, you will be healing yourself while they run out of mana. Once they are out of mana, then you wear them down. In groups, you shine very well, but once you are designated as the healer, they will come straight for you first. expect to die alot. expect to die More than ALOT.

Inquistors > Templars

Inquisitors are set up prefect of PvP while Templars are not. A down side for Inqu/Temp is the long cast times which get interrupted ALOT. Inqusitor AA lets them reduce cast time on top of being able to pvp well. I am not sure Templars get a cast reduction but I could be wrong.

For raid pvp they are both about equal.

You NEED good AAs but a good Templar can be a complete surprise to many opponents. Of course it all goes wrong if you get several enemies on you at once, even weaker ones, but 1v1 or 1v2 you can do nasty things to many other classes. In group you always get thanked a lot for the very very solid healing too, plus if you pick up some agro you dont go down like a less armoured healer might.

Additionally theres an end AA line ability which I have which just bemuses some opponents used to interrupting their way to an easy victory over this kind of class.. They are bemused all the way to dead.

Interrupts are a non issue on .5s cast CAs.

Why? Because they can stun/daze/mez essentially locking down a target, along with using cure reactives making them near immune to scouts in pvp.
