I have read just about every post on this forum regarding Nek 3. I understand that most of you say the loot sucks, and dislike the zone, however I have a bunch of people that want to try it anyway... just to do it.

So...with that said... I understand there are "puzzles" in this zone to figure out....and I have checked eq2i.com and allakhazam and have not been able to find any information on this zone at all. I hope I am missing something here and being ditzy and just not looking in the right places.

Does anyone have a link or information that will help me to lead a group through this zone?

Thanks in advance!!

First I would recommend skipping this walkthrough and trying it on your own first as there are some fun surprises. But if you don't want to do that sure, I'll toss out a couple hints. First of all, invisibility is your friend here. The majority of trash mobs do not see invisible. Second, absolutely do not harvest glowies in this zone. Every single one is a trap. Book pages are safe however. Difficulty wise I would say the zone is somewhere in between Valdoon and Blight as long as you keep it clean. A chanter class is not necessary, but makes the zone much easier. Since Mezzing and group invis is nice here an illusionist is a great choice... but absolutely not necessary.

You start out the zone in the basement. Work your way toward the staircase near the wine cellar. There is one encounter that you have to fight, but I would recommend clearing the roamer near it first. It's a ^^^ paired with two ^^ mobs around lvl 71 I think. After you kill it you can click the wall behind it's spawn point to open a secret door. Group invis, make a left and follow the hallway. You don't need to clear the secret room with books if you don't want to. There is a harvestable collection book cover in there though I think. Anyway, go up the staircase by the wine cellar and come through the bookcase secret entrance. Hug the wall to the right HARD. In this room there are 3 ^^^ mobs linked together near the fireplace and one poltergeist by the bed. If your whole group hugs the wall tight nothing will aggro and you can set up in the corner of the room. Once you clear the 3 ^^^ mobs make sure your group doesn't go near the fireplace or you can trigger more mobs on accident. I recommend clearing the poltergeist and staying on that side of the room when you leave just to be safe. There is a spear trap when you leave the room. No biggie but it might surprise you. Follow the hallway to the right. If your familiar with nek castle 1.0 you'll want to go to the caretaker room next. There are two roamers in the hallway, you can invis past them if you like. There is a weight trap in front of caretaker room that does significant damage and shrinks you for a while. Go inside the room and hug left. Clear the two mobs that are linked in the middle of the room. After they are dead have you tank get the key from the fireplace. There is a chance that this will trigger a named mob. From my experience I'd say the odds are around 25% of getting a named. Either way kill the fire mobs.

After that you can use the key to unlock the next door. Go to one of the "sisters" rooms by taking a right when you leave the caretakers room. Inside this room you'll see a ghost child and a bunch of "billy" dolls on the floor. Talking to the ghost triggers a timer. You need to move the dolls that don't bounce around on their own onto the bed. The trick is to stare at a group of dolls for about 15s. If one hasn't moved in that time it's safe to pick it up and move it. If you move the wrong doll you will trigger a bunch of mobs to add on your group. So make sure anyone moving dolls knows what the hell they are doing first. One person can do this on their own with practice. If you complete the event in time the chest near the bed will become openable. The thing is there won't be a lotto automatically for this chest so make sure your group knows that they have to /random 1 100 first before looting. Next go upstairs and work your way across the upper walkway. 2 roamers here can see invis so be rdy. Take the first right and left and go down the staircase to the next event.

This sister room has a npc group of adventurers. There are 6 of them ^ each. They are fighting a ghost. If you don't interfere they should win the encounter and then they will aggro you. Killing one of them will trigger them to cast "evac". Go through the door and basically keep making right hand turns. DO NOT GO INTO THE LIBRARY AREA. It is a death trap and completely pointless. Go past the library to the next "sister" room and use the staircase down. You can invis past all this junk btw. Go through a secret wall and make a right. The next event is in the chapel room. There are 4 pools of goo on the floor. Before you mess with them kill the roamer in the hallway. Honestly I would recommend skipping this room, but if you haven't done it before go right ahead. I've never seen this named drop loot, but I know he has the potential to. Anyway if you want to fight him kill the four goos on the floor and he'll spawn. It's epic x2 but he's weaksauce. After that head to the jail room. I recommend hugging right when you go to the jail room. Clear the 2 roamers in there before the named. This named likes to "send a player to jail". So have a plan on how to deal with it if your tank gets jailed. She's not tough though so just burn it down.

Next you'll go through the pig pen area to the castle courtyard. There are numerous anvil traps here so don't charge through. Just move steadily and heal through it. In the courtyard there is a group of 3 ^^^ shadowmen. They are chanters too so sometimes they will mez/stun your group. So use prevention stuff if you have it and healers cure the group with arcane especially. Not particularly tough though. After they are dead the npc adventure group who evac'd earlier will return. Kill them by either mezzing and picking off one by one or do whatever AE damage you can. This is a great place to burn off those AE miracles. Killing them completes your journey through Nek3. Make sure you hail the npc after they die for a book and house item if it's your first time through.
