View Full Version : Are the expansions needed now, or can they wait till November?

I am returning to EQ2 after a long hiatus. The Kunark expansion coming in November is what has me coming back, but I am behind the times on expansions. I only have the original EQ2 client (fully patched w/o expansions or adventure packs). Will I [Removed for Content] myself if I do not get all the expansions up to this point and wait till November? I am a soloer by need as I don't really know what uninterrupted play means being a stay-at-home father of 5 children. I am waiting till November since all the expansions up to Rise of Kunark will be included for free.

You'll be missing out on some nice aa and besides the 20 extra levels I din't see what else you'd be missing out on. I'd say go for EoF cuz that expansion has all as well. Of course I don't know how much RoK is gonna be

Well, you used the word "[Removed for Content]". As a soloer, you'll be "[Removed for Content]" no matter how many expansions you have.

That's not meant as a slam against the solo playstyle. Rather a reality how this game is designed. Equipment is a large factor of one's "gimpness" and it'll be hard to have anything better than Master Crafted gear as a soloer. You can get better of course, but then you'd have to at least be a grouper and not a soloer.

From just a money standpoint, you're better off waiting until RoK is released and buying that expansion. Expect it to cost at least $40.

Imo I would purchase EoF. Not only are you missing out on 20 levels and aa's...but you would be missing out on a ton of content included in DoF, KoS & EoF.

Personally speaking, I'd hold out until RoK comes out. The boxed version will have all previous expansions as well, so you'll be up to date. Otherwise, you'll be buying EoF and then RoK, and spending more.

Unless of course, you can't wait, or you hit the level cap, or want to see the other content.

Buy the retail version of EoF not the Online version. The retail version has all the previous expansion rolled into one and isn't that expensive. If you wait for the kunark expansion they might not include the bundle option at which point you will find yourself stuck at lvl 50 and unable to fight mobs in kunark.

Furthermore if you want to be able to go to kunark at release, buy the EoF now and you will have time to level up some by novemeber.

BTW Malchore you couldn't be more wrong, i recently took a character solo up to 70 and fully geared him out in legendary armor and adept 3/master spells (more master than adept). The simple fact is right now the market is so saturated with good gear that a little fighting makes for quick money and gear.

[Removed for Content] if you want to go raid? yes. [Removed for Content] to do the entry level instances of a tier? Not really. [Removed for Content] to solo in? Hahaha

You won't want to miss out on the AA that comes from the previous expansions if your leveling a new character. Grinding out the missing AA in instances or by doing grey quests is not fun.

People will buy any cheap excess from brokers for transmute and sacrifice to gods for favors. Imagine what our economy would look like without transmute and altars. Tooo much junk on broker than now.

Yep, AAs are the key: Soloing they will help you much, Grouping it adds much fun!, Raiding they improve your role.
