Fellow Assassin's,

Was wondering what everyone uses? I know this is an old topic, but those threads are outdated. I know from experiance that throwing daggers can be used with all our ranged attacks like double shot and cloaked barbed ect. The damage and range isn't as great as some of those bows, but the delay on throwing weapons is greater so with poisen proc would u do more damage on auto? I know damage/range isn't effected really by what u use to use our range skills, only auto....So im thinking throwing might be better for the delay?

Anyone else have openions? Also re-rolling my assassin on pvp any advice on which one?

I use a bow. I've never even seriously considered using a throwing weapon. So, what is the typical range for thrown weapons? The way i see it, the most important thing is the stats, because we really don't use the bow too often. I've seen one satchel that I woulda traded in my bow for. So, basically, I'm interested in hearing what everyone has to say too. Oh yeah I almost forgot. Everyone should use a bow and only a bow. Cause I'm a woodworker and I sell arrows. Had to be said. -t

Satchels have shorter delay and damage range than a bow, so if you find yourself having to range a lot than throwing weapons maybe better, theres even one with summoned ammo from DT. Ranged CAs work with throwing weapons too. Considering how little we use ranged I think a bow is better because of the high amount of dmg it does. I have the Rigid Scale Bow (aITEM 1027555942 -1406829850:Rigid Scale Bow/a) from EH and it auto attacks for 3-6k normal dmg and can crit for more, so when I take a step back and fire off an arrow it does a lot of damage.

Unless you are seriously spending a lot of time in ranged (which you shouldn't have to) than the bow is going to be the best way to go most likely.

The range on throwing weapons are about 25 m and bows are 35 I think. I seem to use range alot...I like to solo with my assassin and usually start the fight with the backshot line and triple shot line then melee, but in PVP in my small experiance so far is normally im running after someone and missed the snare so as I run after them with my bow combat arts down, I shoot 1 arrow every 7 sec? (use longbow) and if i miss, its 14 sec then till i get a hit.(if i don't miss on second arrow) 14 sec is a long way you can sprint to get to guards =)....so for running those pesky Q's down not sure which is best. Would try it but don't have any other char on the nafg server so no money right now to get a semi-decent shealth.

Jheran 53 Barbarian Assassin Crushbone

Jheran 17 Assassin Nafg

since they gave us the 10dps adornment for bows there is no reason to use a throwing weapon while our ranged CA aren't the best, they aren't terrible and require a bow

Word - my auto atk with my bow ranges 1400-2200 with the bow from Unrest off Hemogoblin

4-5 second delay on a 7 second bow? How much haste do you have? Pretty sure mine is a true 7 seconds and I have 0 haste. -t

Ah well, I'm a Ranger ... Just thought every scout class gets atleast a little haste.

Would be interesting to hear how an assassin would do with throwing weapons tbh.

I have been tossing this about in my head all day. I won a "bag of gears" or something like that, has an effect that summons 99 broken gears (throwing weapons). I am not at home so I can't give the stats but I do remember that the delay was 2.9 vrs the 6-7 on the 2 bows I use (raincaller and torn ligement bow). I tend not to use ranged too much but thats mainly due to the long re use on the the bow even with auto attack. I have been thinking that I may try this out as its "free" ammo and the dmg rating is higher then the raincaller but just a tad under the TLB.

Ah Ha! I seem to have found a link...

aITEM -1209701225 -2113561981:Bag of Broken Cogs/a

Now if I can just stay awake long enough to get home from work....ZZzzzZzz

People keep saying that you have to use a bow for your CA's.........Is my char bugged? I can use All my Ranged CA's with throwing weapons...no one else can?

Nope you're not bugged. It even says ranged weapon in the CA description. But I wouldn't give up the high auto attack damage und proc chance of a long bow.

Would be interesting to see an Assassin with throwing weapons, cause I've never seen one. That's what I meant.

I have, until EoF came out the combine war satchel off princes and ammo from the one off tarinax were as good as any bow except the sarnak bow off Venekor in HoS and that went to rangers most of the time. There was the bow off Matron, but not many saw that bow before EoF came out. With Rigid Scale and Star Darkened now in comparison with the lack of satchels (if any?) in EoF, youd be crazy not to use a bow, since many many people can clear EH and IS.
