View Full Version : Can we please speak now?

Please Please PLEASE!! Can we open the chats on the PvP servers? Set up a world chat channel so everyone can talk-taunt-trash talk and all the fun things that go with PvP. I understand in the beginning why it was done this way but now considering how many teamspeak type programs are out there its kind of pointless. One of the things that people loved about EQ1 was being able to rat others out or challenge others to one on one fights or group on group fights. It also in a way helps players police the servers themselves. In EQ1 if someone was being a total jerk then everyone would know about it and that person would be blackballed even by their own team sometimes. Trash talking is part of the game and more often then not its just good fun with nothing personial meant by it.

In the beginning EQ2 was trying to be a different game but with the EQ world feel but over time Sony now can see that the people who loved EQ1 want it to be like EQ1 but with better graphics and a advancing story line. This is proven by the bringing back of the old EQ1 zones, I for one love the direction the game is taking now and would guess many others do as well.

1) Contiune adding EQ1 zones and some new ones.

2) Make a Free for All PvP server and perhaps later down the road once all the Deities are put into the game they could have a Deity based PvP server as well.

3) Freedom of speach, allow us all to talk to one and another. In this day and age considering how advanced our communication systems are it seems rather silly we cant all communicate in a game.

This would help Sony gain more customers and make the game more enjoyable over all. I can only see one valid reason why this wouldnt be done and that would be a business deal between Sony and some of the Teamspeak like companies. What better way to promote online voice communications for games then having a PvP game where that is the only way to talk to the other team. And yes thats a reach but its the only thing I could think of that would make it where they could not open the chats becuase of some business deal.

So please give us freedom of speach!!! PLEASE!! Thank you.

*edit* Maybe throw in a channel that all the plat sellers can use so they stop spamming everywhere else haha ya like it would help but worth a try

Indeed, we want cross server world chat!

ps: with transfer I found out that adding "Server." to a name in friendlist can at least make you notice if someone is online. Like "Venekor.Vivi" . Now, if we only could send a tell..

Funny scenario.

But if 10 year old player 2's parent's don't have his chat filters on, or, better yet, have his chat turned off all together, they are doing 10 year old player 2 a great injustice, no matter what side he is on, cross faction chat or no.

Its just not a 10 year old world out there... even though many players don't act much older than that.

Personally, I have no problem with at least one channel that is cross faction chat, if you don't want to deal with it, just turn off the channel, simple solution.

Seems like it might possibly help provide for more PvP opportunities too...

GOOD news! this feature is available NOW on test server! As a matter of fact, its been available for /ooc chat since test server started! So get on over to test server and chat till you can't chat no more!

Otherwise, /ignore lists would really get longer.

My understanding of the cross-channel chat on test was that is was for feedback. I wouldn't count on that making it as a feature in the live game, though. But hey, I could be wrong.

Funny Scenario! And sadly, so true.

I have been a big supporter of the language barrier from the start. But I do agree that there are too many ways around it (naming pets, alts, teamspeak, etc), and so I guess I could live with a cross-faction channel, with one big provision. It would only be an strict, OPT IN feature with full parental control. IOW, you could NOT use it or be exposed to it unless you specifically change the setting on your chat to allow the channel.

If they did this, plus fix the pet thing, I guess I could support it. Even better would be if they had NOT allowed people to have characters in both factions from the start, but I guess this is not feasible now, since too many people already have them, and also with the addition of exiling.

In regards to the kids, most of them know all the words already if they go to school. I have even learned a new word or two from some kids also. They have filter for this already so it would be covered.

This worked fine in the orginal EQ so really dont see any reason it should not be reapplied now, but of course thats just my view.

I wouldn't agree with a world chat, but a /say chat should be the only available way to chat. Since pets can be used to talk, why not just make it easier and let us use /say in common tongue. Whilst /tell /ooc /shout /channel etc should be restricted to the aligned group. Would make 1vs1's, congradulating, etc much easier instead of making a pet which takes a min. Other wise pets should only be allowed to be renamed in a certain time frame, such as changing your last name which takes a week.

If that ever happens I will just turn off all chats entirely. Its bad enough having to hear half the idiots on any given server. To have to hear a full 100% of them would just suck more than anyone should have to deal with.

I am in accordance with the aforementioned approach for applying an authorization (i.e. approval) anteceding one's ability to access such an avenue of association. ;D

Actually, in the scenario, player 1 would talk that trash, then soon after, get griefed by all three factions (same faction telling others where he's at) and then log off and learn his lesson. PvP servers with worldwide chat eventually develope their own rules and communities, although at first it will be chaos. Just like when people turn 21, they go out and get wasted for a while, then calm down and learn how to drink responsibly from there on out (most people, not all, always exceptions)

Also, that player 2, 10 year old kid, can probably talk trash better than player 1.. thats just how it is these days. Although, sometimes, the younger kids really dont make sense, but still trash talk anyways. Pretty funny when your playing halo 2 and some 9 year old is kicking your [Removed for Content] and trash talking, almost like a rhythem. I find it funny how parents are like, "Oh, think about the children!" My freshman biologist teacher told me once, that the greatest scientists in the world are children, because they are very fast at catching on using their five senses, and are constantly asking questions, why, what, who, ect, to learn.

I can remember being 10, and honestly, I knew alot of trash talk and so did everyone I hanged out with at school, but in front of our parents, we would TRY not to let them know about it... You think we were the only ones? Hahaha.

Rottk

Nagafen
