Well i have used the "search" feature which the forum provides for shadows being removed/disappearing and to my extent i have found that it still hasn't been fixed in the game itself and sony supposedly knows about this problem, my shadows continue to disappear and game continues to run slow with shadows on. I did not buy this game so that i can run it on High performance with shadows off. I Exceed the RECOMMENDED requirements by a wide margin and i still cant run the game with shadows. They either disappear or it runs extremely slow. If you would be so kind as to post the real requirements for this game please update them because from what i have seen i surpass them and i cant figure out the problem one single bit. I have been playing world of warcraft in the meantime to keep me going but i loved EQII and wouldnt like to just quit now i would like some hope from sony. I already have a level 70 and the way i played is through high performance with no shadows, ever since i got the game back in 04, now it is 07 and my pc is top notch and i cant beat my old pc's settings i basically cant group without lowering the settings below balanced and turning shadows off, or waiting for them to disappear. I dont want to hear how to optimize my system as it is optimized enough and i have done extensive testing on over 6 different top end games and they have higher demand then EQII does and run better then EQII does can i get some help here...

I also get this problem. I have a great deal of problems with graphics, slow sluggish. I run on High Performance and yet it doesn't help one bit. The recommended requirements are for the game to be playable and have good quality graphics. They will NOT allow you to set the graphics to Very High or Extreme. Realize that when EQ2 came out, there were no graphics cards that could run EQ2 with all the setttings cranked up. It simply could not be done. Now with cards like ATI's new DX10 card and the nVidia 8800 GT, it is possible to run EQ2 at the Extreme setting smoothly. NinjaxSK wrote:
NVIDIA GeForce 6600 GT AGP (128 MB)
EQ2 really benefits from a 256MB or 512MB video card. 128MB is really the minimum in my opinion. I am running an nVidia GeForce 6800 XT AGP 512MB which I picked up for $135 at NewEgg about 4 months ago. I am able to run EQ2 with some lag (5-15fps) at Extreme Graphics. I usually run the game with Very High Graphics and have been extremely happy. I also have 2.5GB of RAM. luce123 wrote:
NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GT 256MB
The disappearance of shadows seems to have nothing to do with video card capability and is instead a bug which has been reported many times before. That card should be able to handle shadows without much difficulty.

There is apparently no shadow disappearing fix out there. It is unknown as far as i have seen, sony has done nothing to even think about this since i DID have this on my old pc also WHEN the game came out nov 2004. Anyway i figured you would post that those are all non mmorpgs. Here is a mmorpg with similar requirements to EQ2 and runs about 3x better then eq2. Now think about it just because they are shooters and not mmo's i would like for you to see that this game has truly some poor coding done to the engine itself. This game is old enough to be ripped down on, and it yet cannot be run maxed. The game is unplayable in High quality on my pc. Why is this? This isnt even max quality and its slow. In this game i can enable every feature including anti-aliasing and max it out without any stuttering, shadow problems or anything i have tried. Dungeons & Dragons Online High Res System Specs Processor: Intel Pentium 4 3.0 GHz or compatible (must support SSE) Video: Radeon X800 or GeForce 6 6800 GT RAM: 1 GB or more Disk Space: 5GB DirectX: DX9c+ OS: Windows XP Home and Pro AND BEST OF ALL... a game that requires more then eq2 and out performs it. On my system. I can bring in tons of examples and this all leads to my opinion that this game has poor coding. Vanguard Saga of Heroes Recommended Specs: Windows® 2000/XP/Vista DirectX 9.0c compatible computer DirectX 9.0c compatible keyboard or input device Processor 3.0 GHz Intel or 3500+ AMD processor 2 GB RAM Vertex and Pixel Shader 2.0 compatible hardware with 256MB of texture memory DirectX compatible audio hardware Broadband Internet Connection 16X Speed DVD-ROM
