Which class is better for soloing Named Mobs? Is one class better for a specific type of named mob? Thanks in advance.

Well, first of all, you're posting this in a Wizard class forum. Don't you think the answers you get are going to be just a bit biased? With that said, Wizards excel at killing single target named mobs. I would say that we're probably the best at straight-forward, single target named mob destruction. I can do 80,000 damage with two spells. It's hard to survive that. Warlocks are better with grouped mobs, and of course necros and conjurors are a bit more survivable because of their pets. All are good soloers, and all, if played correctly, can solo the odd named mob.

It should be noted that melee MOBs are infintely more do-able than casters, when it comes to soloing heroics. Unless you have some good resist gear, there's really no way to avoid damage from a caster.

With heal potions, cure potions, heal procs etc, it gets doable. Ranger mobs though

yea it has already been touched upon, but the general consensus is that wizards are the best for farming named, since most named dont come with friends. however, my personal oppinion is that the conjuror is actually the best at farming, period, due too their ability too use the tank pet in helping clear toward one such named, esp in a situation where the mobs are highly social and a wiz trying too body pull the encounter > root while its hitting you usually = dead wizard. that and plane shift > undead tide. this is comming from a former warlock betrayed too wizard who realised that the toon would only end up being used for farming named in the end anyway, and i can control single target agro better than group when i do go out with others

If you want the most reliable soloer in the game, but takes a bit more time the illusionist is an awesome choice. mez, then when big spells are up stun with single target drop sime nukes and short dots, root daze and stifle, drop a few more nukes/dot group stun cancel anydots left or do some direct damage spells, then remez untill everything pops back up. If you get an add then mez the add. it just takes a while as illusionist dont have big nukes.

I don't know about the other classes you mention but as a wiz I can kill a 67^^^ heroic with about 4 spells and reap the rewards taking a maximum of 10% damage and lesser 60s^^^ taking no damage at all.

Since we had deities introduced Wrath of the Burning Prince miracle along with Freehand Sourcery + Ball Of Lava [Master 1] can do 40k+ damage (root mob first) and then Ice Nova (with Frigid Gift) followed by Manaburn and all but the hardiest of mobs is down and coughing up chests.

Now if you miracle is resisted.......then you can still solo but it is considerably more difficult......LOL

Have to say I duo box with both a conjuror and Wiz. The combined DPS and versatility is a great combination.

I play a Warlock, but I'd pick a Wizard for soloing nameds any time. Having to kill your named with 2-3 nukes, is a big advantage: - If it's a healing mob, it doesn't get the chance to heal. Warlock's their DOTs are too slow to counter that and they have to cast root and dps again, meaning use mana again. - A big nuke kill also prevents a mob to cast spells on you. You don't take damage, don't get interrupted - As a Warlock I try to at least interrupt a mob with a stiffle spell, but you can only do that on one spell if you're lucky. WOW, you take the damage if you're resists are too low. - Fast kills, also means less chance to get adds or repops. To me, these are all things that a Wizard doesn't have to worry about, or not as much anyway

coercers kill named rather easly if slowly. even without a pet they mez, root, and nuke. repeat. but with a casting pet its signifigantly faster.

I.e The Humator Harridan, Carnovingian, and Carrion Mandagora, all caster mobs, learn its spell range or find a place to block LoS, you'll have the upper hand and can kill any of them without taking damage.

The best soloer by far imo is Coercer

friend of mine can solo the Sage and all the adds in Castle Mistmoore pretty sure none of the other classes can do that.
