I started a new DE in Neriak and I hit level 10 in a matter of hours. I thini the speed and the rate of XP needs to be slowed time. It should take a lot longer to level. At this rate you can level before you even do all the quests.

Personally I am a fan of slower XP rates -- I see no need to race to the top. I think too Fast XP spoils the game and allows insufficient time to do all the quest and other things to do. I admit the new areas are not that enticing compared to the old, but that is no reason to speed up the XP.

I know XP is faster on test, but I still think it needs to be slowed down and I sure hope that when this abomination goes live that the XP is slowed down.

if I recall correctly, I believe the XP rate is faster on the test server (not quite sure what the % is though)

I have levelled 1-20 in a day before. Fast xp in the early levels is nothing new.

Fast XP is solely because it's the Test Server, where players get (IIRC) a 50% XP bonus.

If its to fast for you turn your xp off if you want to test the content.

Keeping in mind the exp bonus of test, I think on a live server the exp will be fine. I can get to 10 in a few hours in just about any of the starting zones if I want, so it isn't anything strange.

Ha! Just leveling on quest experience (adventure turned off), I can make level 10 in an hour. That includes Queen's Colony, Overlord's Outpost, and the Hatchery/Kelethin areas.

For starters, xp comes faster at earlier levels and gradually takes more and more time for each level...how long should it take you to hit level 10? Several days? If it took that long, then getting to 70 would take forever and a day. Also, xp comes faster on the test server as people have pointed out. If you don't like the xp rate, turn off your combat xp....don't expect them to cater the game to you.

Then I spent the next 2 hours killing fairies for the Hunter of Fairies title. By that time I was almost lvl 10. After I got back to Kelethin, I leveled to 10. If I had just gone straight from 1-10...it would have taken me oh...at most 2 hours. /shrug Now..there IS an xp bonus on Test server. It's so you CAN reach the higher levels a tad easier. No, it doesn't work on live. As for abomination, personally I'm enjoying this. Now, I know everyone is entitled to their own opinions of the game however I feel that insulting it is thoroughly churlish. IF you don't like it...fine. State you don't like it. But...leave it at that please.

I can level just from Quest & Discover XP so fast, that i have not seen more than 25% of the content for the lower levels the time i leveled out of it (means grey). I'm not saying that i can't have fun on grey content (Klak'Anon was great even with my capped Char) but sometimes i wished there were a "No XP Please" Button...

Regards, theriatis.

So what if the xp is fast from lvl 2-20? It slows down conciderably from that point on! 20-30 is still pretty decent, but from 30 the grind really starts. You really only get a taste for your class up untill 20 anyway, as your signature spells are only starting to become available. Might as well make lvl 1-20 to 1-10, and say we have a lvl 60 cap in game.

I think it is good that the xp is fast through 1-20 precisely because you dont get signature spells before your teens anyway, which you need to get a feel for your class. Important to newbs.

I have friends who can grind a lvl 70 character in a week, lol. If you know how to maximize EXP gain you can reach anything,

For those complaining exp comes to fast, turn your [Removed for Content] experience off then.

On all characters but my main (oh & how I wish I'd understood about no combat xp on her!), I turn off combat xp @ level 10. I love the way this works! I level @ a good pace, & if my quests really are too out of reach, I turn it back on & grind a few city writs until I pop up a level or 2. I think even if they 'slowed down the experience', you'd still see people level 10 in 2 hrs. Maybe not lvl 70 in a week - but who knows, when people want something bad enough. What I feel is more of a shame, if you will, is the fact that we're gonna have 2 races, both w/ 1-20 content that does go by rather quickly (not to say 1-20 should never get new content but to stop it there?), & then shuffled into the old stuff. I think recently it has gotten too fast -- WOW style. I have noticed that ll the new MMO's coming out seem to think that people want to race to level 20 and the XP is very fast. In LOTRO the quest XP was enormous --

I think speedy XP in the lower levels is getting too fast in all games -- but I hate to see it in EQ2. I went back the last few days to EQ1 and yes it is faster than it used to be but it is nowhere near as fast as in EQ2. I rather like the slower speed of XP. It gives you a better chance to learn to play your character as well as explore and savor all the quest. Currently you will outlevel most of the quests in an area because of TOO fast XP -- you can't turn off Quest XP which is the real cause of the problem at lower levels.

They did increase the amount of xp some time ago (like Jan of 2005), but from my understanding it was the amount of xp gained from killing monsters deemed solo or small group (vvv,vv,v,no arrow,^ and maybe ^^) and some change to group bonuses. I don't think quest xp was increased and I don't recall it changing again since, but I could be mistaken on both those counts.

However, it never was a chore to get to 20, or to level up in general in this game. As your first character, it would take more time because you didn't know what you were doing. Each subsequent character you make, you leveling time will decrease, since you know which quests to do, where to go for the quest and how to play period. That is of course if you are just focused on leveling the character up to x level. If you meander around like a newb on your alts, it's still going to take a little more time.

Keep in mind you don't HAVE to do all the quests in the level range, most people infact, do not. They put in the little window showing the quest rewards so you know before hand what you are getting (for most quests) and you can determine if you want to spend your time doing a quest with a meh reward or if you'd rather spend your time on the other with the better reward. In testing, of course you are going to run through them all to make sure they are functioning properly. That can be done easily by turning off the test server bonus and locking combat xp so you don't out level the content.

=) and just FYI WOW xp isn't really any faster then EQ2 xp. Especially since if you do quests you have to run all over the place (extraordinarily slowly I might add).

The bonus to xp is 50% on test. You can turn it off and on with /toggle_bonus_exp. If it's still too fast then you can turn off combat xp. I always have combat xp off and if you want to do as many quests as you can you'll have to do that. Hope that helps! Othesus - Dirge - Lucan DLere Vaspar - Fury - Lucan DLere
