As I know, all weapons for monk were checking crushing skills before. Is it changed? I think it is since I have less piercing skills than crushing and I have more misses using piercing weapon than using crushing weapon. It looks like piercing/slashing is no longer checking crushing skill rather than its own type skill. Can anyone confirm it please? thank you. PS: After I put a +5 piercing adornment on my piercing weapon, I have better hit/miss ratio.
pierce and slash use pierce and slash skill. this changed a long time ago

Greetings! I like to add a Question since my piercing/slashing skill won't raise with either of the following weapons: - Fists of Pain (DW crushing with slashing dmg) - Katar of the four Winds (DW crushing with piercing dmg) after killing countless Mobs the slash/pierce skills are still sitting on rather low numbers. I haven't found any "pure" slash/pierce weapons a monk can (would?) use so far. this leads me to the Question which specific Weapons are using slash/pierce for skill as a Monk and does slash/pierce dmg use on a crushing weapon check the skill in either stat. thanks in advance for help because I'm a little puzzled here. Nokrahs PS: for Adornments the Weapons stated above use the slash/pierce ones and not the crushing ones. PPS: Quote out of the "Monk FAQ" : Why can’t I raise my slashing/piercing skill? Monks cannot raise their slashing or piercing skill. But that doesn’t matter, because all monk usable weapons use the crushing skill to determine their effectiveness now. Slashing weapons are called cestii, and piercing weapons are called cestus. Both weapons check your crushing skill, but do slashing and piercing damage. It is recommended that you have a pair of either cestii or cestus on hand when raiding in case you come up against a crush immune mob.

Just read the weapon's description. The damage type has no relation to the base skill. Your skills will only improve based on what skill the weapon is based on, not on what type of damage the weapon deals.

The current situation is, that *most* weapons for monks are still based on the crushing skill, but not all of them. I didn't max out my piercing and slashing skills before level 70, because I never had piercing/slashing skill based weapons before... but now I do.

thanks for the reply, Kronadin. guess I get to raise my skill based on a possible piercing weapon (p3?) later on automatically.
