48% Carpet Mount

I want to get one for my level 20 toon and am wondering what is the best way. I have the 10p already but have some questions about the guild status points required. Can I just join a lvl 30+ guild with 300k personal status buy the mount and then leave the guild? Also can I fight on the carpet at 48%???!?! Thanks and sorry if this has already been asked but I am finding limited information on the web about mounts.
