New Video Card / 2 Choices Please Help!!!

<p>Okay, building a new system, but having some trouble picking out what video card set up is best.</p><p>First choice is a Nvidia GeForce 8800GTX 768mb w/DVI </p><p>Second: SLI 2x Nvidia GeForce 8800GTS 320mb w/DVI</p><p>So I guess what im really asking, would the one 8800GTX 768mb give me more performance than the 2 8800GTS 320mb cards?</p><p>Also, Im having a hard time deciding to put vista on my new system or not.  Dose EQ2 run on vista?  Is their alot of problems with it if so?  Thanks in advance for any help.</p><p>EDIT:  Also, if i go with the SLI and use 2 cards, will i need a bigger power suply than the 420 that comes in my tower?</p>

<p>EQ2 runs fine on Vista (as long as you disable UAC.)  I'm currently running it that way.  The GTX for the price is no that much better of a performer than the GTS.  If I was building a new system for my self I would probably go with 1 of the 8800 GTS 640 meg versions.</p><p>Everquest is more CPU bound than it is GPU bound.  In the test I ran I didn't see much of a difference between a single and SLI setup.</p><p>If you decied to go SLI you will definatly need a bigger power supply.  Perferably one of the dual or tri rail PS's.</p>

<p>I bought an Evga Nvidia 8800gts 786 last week.  It does not work that great right now.  The drivers are still bad.  You will get really bad framerates.  I do use Windows xp right now.  Unsure if these problems exist with Vista users.  I found if you use the Drivers off the disc as opposed to the lastest drivers it helps a little bit.  My old ATI 600x 256 Ran this game better.... For a company that supports eq2 and has thiers freaking Logo on the login screen I would have assumed there would be better correlation between them.  That is not the case hoever. </p><p>     I really hope thay fix the framrate problems.  This card has been out for about half a year.  For the price I paid for it (400 USD) It should work right out of the [I cannot control my vocabulary] box!</p><p>If somone HAS found a fix for the stutters and Framerate problems let me know!</p>
