Problems With Server Transfer and Name Change ...

well i have a question that I don't THINK has been asked.... is anyone else having a problem selecting a new name?  My husband and I have been trying to change servers and some characters went fine the ones that needed a name change however are a whole new story.  Every name chosen is coming up as either taken or invalid and we have been trying for literally an hour and a half every random name coming to mind.  We even used name generators to try and get something through that we could /petition later to no avail.  The names that we have used ARE available as we can go to the island and make the character and delete it again just fine ( which he just now tried ) but I am still getting the error on the name change page... any suggestions?
