Character transfer service hang up

<p>Im trying to access the new free character transfer for this week and keep getting the message at the top of the page saying   "Service not available at this time. Please try again later."</p><p> So I was wondering if its not quite ready yet or is the service just getting hammered by 1000 players all trying to use it at the same time?</p>

I get two different ones, I get a 404 access denied when I try to open the page or I get just a bunch of Java code.

<p>I'm getting both the error message and the not available.  When I do manage to get through to the list of my characters then I can't pick a destination server.  Perhaps there are too many people trying to access the service or perhaps they haven't got it working yet, who knows.</p><p>I think we really expected too much of SOE.  Hands up those people who really thought a 12.01 PDT start time meant a minute past midnight?  I just hope that the free week as promised will run at least from the time they actually manage to get this thing working.</p>

ok with dedicated use of the F5 key I finaly got my request progressed but now its asking me for credit card information.     How do I get to the free transfer  from the request page?

<p>I dont think anyone minds if sony is late on these things, I know i dont. What myself and most people find frustrating is why someone does not post to keep us informed. I am sure there are maybe 30 sony employees running around trying to sort this. Surely one of them is able to just take 5 mins to keep the many thousands of customers informed.</p><p>I guess with the size of operation, sometimes the little details get forgotten, but it would make Sony so much more popular, that it seems a bit of a non brainer really.</p><p>Mind you at least 3 times a week my servers goes down for patches, yet we only get warned maybe 1 out of 10 times. Why? if the system is in place in game to send a downtime message, why not everytime. I expect it could even be automated...</p><p>Some things just dont make sence. Infact quite funny the other night we got a message to say " please ignore the downtime message, as it is no longer coming down"... funny thing was we never had a message. So the only message we got was to ignore the message lol</p>

<p>Honest to god I don't think its working yet.  I'm not going to do anything and I'd advise you the same.  No credit card info because, as night follows day, they'll take your money and it will be the devil to get it back.</p><p>I can also progress it a certain amount by use of the forward and back keys.  However I've now noticed another problem.  I have alts on both Crushbone and Splitpaw.  Whichever server I specify it's only bringing up the Crushbone alts.</p>

<p>I personally think the character transfer is going to be locked down by every man and his dog trying to transfer right now so I am waiting patiently and hoping I can at least transfer my alts before the 7 day period is over.</p><p>I would suggest most of you would do the same.</p>

<p>Anyone know or understand how it is supposed to be free if it is asking me for my credit card info???</p><p>Any word from Sony on how we are supposed to take advantage of this move in a free way?</p>

I just tried to transfer character's and it's still asking for a credit card.  This is almost 3hrs after the stated 'live' time.  Someone from SOE needs to step up and say something about what is going on.

As per Grimwells posts (use dev tracker) the transfer process still asks for credit card info, but the cost for the transfer is set to $0.00 I know for account to account transfers they use credit card info for verification of account ownership. I suppose they are just using for verification in this case too. Not that it affects me though as thats how i pay for my sub...

I took the leap and put in my credit card info,  on the next screen a invoice page appears with cost of transfer 0.00, amount billed to credit card 0.00 etc. So you will not be billed for the transfer. <img src="file:///C:/DOCUME%7E1/Charli/LOCALS%7E1/Temp/moz-screenshot.jpg" border="0">
