Just to give you guys a quick heads up, GU35 *should* be coming to Test next week. It's going to have to make it's normal run through QA, etc. but the team wants to try to give it more time in Test than we normally do. I'm sharing this with you guys so you aren't surprised by the patching when it comes. Please keep a lid on it for now. ;P

That it is coming early. Once something is *on* the Test servers, it is pointless for me to ask anyone to suppress info. Have a ball when it gets there.

But, yeah, I've learned to keep my mouth shut about most things on Test, just in case.

When it does arrive, will there be patch notes? I'm not really clear what we are or aren't communicating other than just not talking about this conversation , but if patch notes appear it will be pretty clear that GU 35 arrived on test early. If patch notes don't arrive, on the other hand, it's not exactly like we're going to have an objective to test, so the early arrival might just be sitting there waiting for someone to notice it.

Crazy idea, I know, it would sure be nice if a duly appointed representative of the Circle of Unseen Patches was willing to stay online for 60 minutes after the test server came back up. It seems like we're always logging in and going, 'So, what changed? Anybody know?' and then waiting until either notes appear or someone shows up and says, "So, did you notice the new menu command if you right click on the icon in the dialog box?" (Which, interestingly enough, someone often did).

Another, purely selfish benefit of that would be that I can think of at least five times where the server's come back and test channels didn't work; or you couldn't zone into instances; or a particular zone didn't come back; or mobs were under the world; or some other unintended side effect would happen; and we've sometimes had to wait for days to call it to someone's attention. Somebody just coming in after a server restart and broadcasting "Hi, logged in here for the next 60 minutes, let me know if there are issues with the restart by sending me a tell. I'll come back and look at all my tells every 30 minutes," would allow us to save our really good adjectives until later

And finally, if you bounced the server without advance warning, being the one that had to come back and spend an hour with the testers would seem like an appropriate penance, don't you think?

Just to clear it up, there will be the normal warning for the patch and update notes

I usually try to pop in on the test server whenever anything new is happening or just to play a bit during the day so if you see me on as Kirstie feel free to say hi and chat.

I'm going to be on vacation next week though so Grimwell will have to find someone else to harass about getting update notes *grin*

- K

I have failed in my harassment. I'm going through the dev data and compiling the Test Patch Notes right now.... I should just make cool sounding things up! GU35, and Neriak to Test tomorrow -- unless Cinco de Mayo involves burning servers Which makes for a good time to welcome all kinds of curious Arasai to the server, and you can try to recruit the nice ones and keep them around!

WOW... I just read the write up on the new race. Very exciting stuff! Thank you for the info Grimwell! Yikes...there will definitely be an influx you were not kidding. Now I have to come up with some way to squeeze in another character...could be tricky! ~Chiana
