I currently have the 'standard' sta/wis/int 448 dps build on my AAs. I've been hearing some good things about crane flock. But I'm looking for more information on how it compares to what I have now. For DW's I have Marr's Fist or Bonetooth Skewer plus Scepter of Destruction. I haven't been lucky enough to see the Twin Calamities drop in all the times I've raided Labs *pout*. For 2H what I have is either Staff of the Flapping Wing or Bo of Flowing Blood or 2H Wurmslayer if fighting drakota ... still hoping for Stonestaff or some neat hammer to replace the Shovel of the Flapping Wing. Given I don't have something like Vraksakin's Club, is Crane Flock worth it for me? What's the minimum 2H I should be looking at to beat sta/wis/int 448? Also, if I do go down wis to the bottom, any suggestions on what to do with the leftover points? I'm looking to maximize dps here.

I had Crane Flock for a while and it really helps you out the most with fast weapons and loads of haste. The whole thing only lasts ~16 seconds or so if I remember right, which isn't really a lot of time get hits in. I ended up speccing out of the line again because I don't have enough haste items to really get much out of it. I suspect monks or those with a lot of haste items would find it much more useful.

I specced back to the STR 448 INT 44882 setup I had going before that. Once I manage to exile my bruiser, in a million years or so, I'll try to get on some raids for some proper weapons so I can get WIS 448 instead

If you are looking at pure DPS, then yeah.. Crane Flock isn't going to be your best option. Unless you do fights every 5 minutes, the downtime between popping that sucker off will mean only negligable DPS in the long run (zonewide parses).

Personally, I've gone down Wis/Int 4, 4, 8, 6(7), 2, but I'm not a total DPS build. I personally feel the loss in DPS isn't big enough to warrant losing the bonuses I'm getting.. but your mileage may vary. To be frank, I don't think Mantis Bolt is proc'ing completely right.. as it's really not adding up to a heckuva lot of DPS.. when you'd think it would being a 24% proc rate with decent damage.

In the end, I picked my current spec because I am asked to Tank often (if not constantly) on Heroic instances. The AE bonuses from the Wisdom line are not to be sneezed at, and for the little I raid the miniscule amount of DPS I might have lost hasn't really been a big deal. I see a bigger difference on my parses depending on what group buffs I'm getting.

And honestly, Crane Flock is practically like an AE Rescue on a 5 minute recast timer, and not too shabby on single target (100% double attack is nice on it's own). Between the 3 AE's and Crane Flock, I can lock down aggro on most boss group encounters, even against a warlock... although, they usually don't last longer than the 16s at that point, heh.

But for single target dps crane flock and chi are the best options.

Zone wide parses in raid zones aren't that useful. Being able to do burst DPS on a single target is alot more important then haveing a higher sustained dps on trash mobs. The named mobs are the hardest for a raid force to take down and the raid needs more burst dps at that time. If your not level 70 then sta/wis/int 4/4/8 is probably the way to go but if you're a raiding level 70 then you should look at other options.
