This has been posted many times..I know. I've see all the threads.

I've read through them all, but I haven't really found the answer to my questions.

I'm stuck on the cleric. Been there, done that with the other healers. Big plate and giant hammers is the life for me.

Anyway, I'm looking for a few things, and was wondering if you guys could help point me in the right way. First, I would like a character that can solo his way up a few levels when I can't group. From what I understand, both classes can do this. I would like your views on which would be easier, assuming spec'd properly.

High end, I would like to be able to solo a few heroic named in my downtime, and I know clerics can, I'm just not sure which cleric can (assuming roughly equal AA spec's) do it better.

Also, when it comes to grouping, is there a huge advantage of one over another? Any help is greately appreciated.

Clerics can solo heroic named? News to me. Or are you talking green/blue ones? Inquisitor has higher potential DPS, and cheaper masters (as Inq's are less common), inferior buffs (except for a dps group), but better debuffs That the only inquisitor I spoke to much was considering betraying after EoF was released, and ended up leaving the game, tells me which is the better healer currently. Personally I'd hate to try soloing a priest, even a fury, up from level one.

If you want to solo your way up when you can't find a group, which I'm sad to say finding a group (esp a good one) will be most hard for newer players at the lower levels and wanting to solo heroic named when you get to the endgame later on...Clerics are not for you. Clerics can solo, but it's slow and painful. Cleric's can take out heroic named, but it's slow, painful and for anything of value takes alot of skill / gear investment / spell investment. If you want to make a Cleric, you make it to be a powerful healer. Sure you can solo and do some dps, but if you go around basing your decision what raid Clerics are saying, those of us in Fabled raid gear, fully mastered and years of experience behind us you've got another thing coming. Plate classes can solo and take out named, but we suck at it compared to other classes (with the exception of the SK, they can solo some nasty stuff).

Believe me, I understand the roles of a cleric. I have a steady group of friends, though they're all a bit higher up (I'm coming back from plaiyng a templar Pre LU-13--I know the pain--been playing a swashy or other games since)

I know the ins and outs of th healing spectrum, which is why I haven't asked about it. I know how long it cna take to solo named (Splitpaw Solo Arena at level 20 right when the pack came out--2 hour 15 minute fight...But I did it!)

Mostly, I'm looking at what the damage potential of battle cleric line of Inquisitors is versus the Smite line for the Templar, assuming adept I-III spells, as opposed to masters.

Also, I'm not making it TO solo high end named, but sometimes its fun to go knock out labs or something, to see how far you can push yourself.

Havent played far on an inquis... have a low level one, not high enough to really speak on.

Been playing my templar for a long while though, and with the proper specs, he can solo. I wont say he solo's great, or fast, but he can do it, and less painfully with the aa's specced to that end. My assumption though, in comparing the two, is that the inquis is by nature a better soloist. Maybe a high end inquis can corroborate that.

I can take some nameds, greens and blues of course. Depending on the mob, and their particular strenghts and weaknesses.

For grouping, its pretty simple, the temp has a lot to offer in the way of defensive buffs and protections, the inquis is going to add a nice punch to the groups DPS.

I play a level 70 templar, and before the release of Kingdom of Skies I played a level 60 inquisitor. In order to determine which solos/dpses/groups better it depends on the situation. In a melee dps group in a raid, inquisitor is easily the best choice. Templar earns its spot in the main tank group. In a caster dps group, templar is a great asset, though not as great as furies. As far as soloing goes I think templar has the advantage in the later levels. An inquisitor's primary method of crowd control is their root, which can break and is ineffective as crowd control when in melee damage. Because most of the inquisitor's damage is melee, their roots effectively neutralize their damage source. However a templar gets a 10s daze and a 7s stun. Both of these can be improved by achievements. I am 21 Blessings/8 Compliances/21 Smites. I can keep a mob dazed half the time, this is both effective when soloing and when grouping. A mob that isn't attacking doesn't need to be healed against - I can add my 800-1500 dps to the group. I can solo a large number of nameds in many ranges. I have problems with power drains and if a mob has high resists, otherwise I can stun/daze my way through just about anything. I use both melee and spells for damage, though there are a number of templars who choose only to cast, and still manage about 600-900 dps. If you prefer using only spells for damage, inquisitor isn't really an option. Their achievements allow only for a melee damage spec. If you prefer melee, inquisitor is the obvious choice. For healing in a group situation, it depends on the group makeup. If you have only one healer, templar is better by far. I can solo heal any instance, including unrest and nizara - and I still haven't gotten my 33% spell haste from my class set. An inquisitor offers more to a melee oriented group with a second healer though, Zealotry is a very powerful group buff which limits the effectiveness of the inquisitor as a healer but provides 50+ haste and some reuse. As far as soloing during your low levels, it's important to get achievement points. As an inquisitor you could pick up Ad3 quality CAs in place of your spells with some achievements along with 100% crit and 40% dps. With a templar you could pick up the crit and spell haste. Inquisitor is definitely easier to level if you don't have much money, though it is a bit more AA dependant.

The classes are fairly well balanced. After being fabled out and mastered out as an inquisitor, I betrayed to become a templar. As far as being a healer, the biggest differences are: templars have more ways to heal, and inquisitors can spam heal all day long because of inquest. As a templar in a raid, I can dish an enormous amount of healing to the entire raid. But its complicated...I have to keep up quite a few more spells and manage my mana more strictly. As an inquisitor in a raid, it was more simple, I could dish less healing and I never, ever had to worry about mana (especially if a swashy was in my group).

I solo'd through most of SoS on a Templar and I can say that they do solo fast. I was specced Int/Sta also, with maxed Smites. I just hotkeyed the nukes to keys 1-4, pulled with the divine debuff, and hit 1 2 1 3 1 4 1 3 1 2 1 3 1 4, etc. On named, hit Divine Recovery and it's a breeze.

For the most part the debuffs and glory of battle kept me alive, also the stun and daze are godly and don't remove the 25% damage Smite aa. I'd usually end a fight at about 80-90% power, and it would be full before I had a chance to grab the nest mob.

The Templar I was using was in relic armor, had a pretty weak 1 hander and buckler (if it were mine, I would have been using a 2 hander) and had very low INT.

So with the right aa's, Templars are a pretty wicked fun solo class. And there's a new character slot inc omgz!

To be honest, with the exception of MT groups for raids (because of buff differences), inquisitor is a much better class than a templar overall if you play it right. We don't take that much of a hit compared to your healing abilities with the exception of your direct heals.

I played templar to level 70 and have raided with both classes. I betrayed to inquisitor, and not only do I find inquis to be more of a "utility class," but I find it more fun to play as well.

Just my 2cp
