The related week of free character transfers for all servers will last, yup seven days. After that seven day period passes, the free transfer window will close and normal services and rates will apply. As such, the scheduling of these events needs to take place in a timeframe when we have one full week to get it all done without interference. That means we can't have any major updates to the game going on at the same time that we are moving your characters about. Which means the server merge and character transfers have to wait until the next Game Update is in. Don't Shoot the Messenger! Wait! Don't get angry! That's good news! Why? Because it's a tricky way of saying "There is a Game Update coming in the next week!" That's right; Game Update #34 is slated to hit the live servers on April 25th, with the usual offset for our international friends. Because of that, the PvP merge and character transfers are going to get started on April 30th. This gives the dev team extra time to test the tools related to the merge and transfers, and also ensures that we won't have characters moving all about the servers at the same time that we are adding new fundamentals to the game itself.

I will be transferring from AB to Najena to join an Australian timezone based raid guild.

Im moving off AB too for all the talk of its high pop, i think a big chunk stick to their rp circles and guild only groups so theres not as much groups as one would hope. Plus there seems to be alot more farmers there now.

That can easily be verified by checking for yourself using eq2census or eq2players.

Assuming I'm allowed to do so, I'm transferring my SK off Antonia Bayle, to Mistmoore. Not sure why I started a character on AB to begin with, actually, but now I'll have all my characters together on one server, & I'll begin playing (& twinking ) my SK a whole lot more.

Hurrah for free server transfers!

It has been a real chore to get groups at any level 65 and below. The few groups that I have gotten sucked balls. I repeat... I have not had a good group leveling my coercer from 1 - 42. Crappy tanks, n00b dps, and a group leader that doesn't know where to go or [Removed for Content]2 do. I can't really blame the group leaders though. It's so amazingly hard (on Najena) to start a pickup group you pretty much just have to throw together whoever you can get. So the couple groups I have gotten usually tend to consist of something like 2 bards, a chanter (me) or 2, some n00b fighter (if we're lucky) that doesn't know how to pull, can't hold aggro off my grandma's templar, and has barely more mit hp and avoidance than my clothy butt. I know some of you want to respond saying things like, join a guild and group within your guild, start your own groups, do solo quests, quit EQ2 if you don't like it... etc... Save it. While joining a guild with people that have toons around your level does help some, in most cases and in my case, it really doesn't help at all as everyone just seems to solo. The fact remains out of multiple searches at different times of day on Najena, I found a maximum of 12 people /lfg levels 1-70... usually more like 4-8 people were /lfg. Forget trying to get a group to go somewhere like Dvin's Throne instance or Condemned Catacombs, or AQ4-6 or Solusek's Eye (I can go on and on). Anyway, I digress...

EQ2's server populations are pathetic. At 65+ on a "heavy" populated server, if you are a certain class, there is a good chance of getting a group *at the right time of day*, other than that, unless you have a static group you play with (and most people dont), you are S.O.L. Merge almost all of the servers and revamp the /lfg tool already IMO. I don't give a [Removed for Content] if I have to change my toon names if it actually means there are people to group with. I know some of you are waiting to respond with some line of crap such as "there are plenty of people in T7, server mergers would make it too crowded in T7 and gameplay unenjoyable and laggy and too much competition and people stealing my named mobs and phat lewtz". And I might agree with you to an extent but the fact is, most of the T7 population stays inside instances and rarely if ever group in shared zones, or actually compete for contested content. And God forbid if you have to share/compete for content, and more than 1 or 2 guilds on each server that has all the contested epics locked down actually get some real competition.

Well this turned into kind of a rant I didn't really intend that when I started posting, but whatever. That's how I feel about eq2 population. Not enough people to play with = canceled subz. It may be easier to find groups in T7 at certain times of the day, but most people aren't going to want to be forced to solo to 65+ skipping almost all heroic and epic content along the way (or doing it solo when it's grey).

Actually I agree with just about everything you've said, JD. I hope that part of the purpose of these free transfers is to find out where the servers truly stand when theya re done, at which point, perhaps merge several more. Perhaps.

It is also quite possible that people already on Venekor could be asking the same question and worrying over characters they made in Europe. To address this concern, the dev team is making a special exception for characters incoming to Venekor. Characters created before April 1st, 2007 on Venekor, or any of the EU servers merging into Venekor will be grandfathered and not counted toward the normal six character maximum. For each such character you have, your maximum number of character slots will be increase by 1, to a maximum of 12 character slots. Characters transferred into Venekor from other servers during the week of free character transfers will not be granted this exemption as they were not forced to merge by the process. How many times can I move my character to a new server during this week? For the duration of this week, you can move as many times as you wish. The only limit to this is the time it will take for the data to transfer your character to the new server. Can I transfer my characters between accounts? Yes, during the week of free transfers you will be able to move your character to a new account provided that you own the source and destination accounts. Can my guild move as a part of the free character transfer week? After the merge into Venekor, anyone wanting to move their guild to a new server will need to move their characters and then form a new guild on the destination server. The only guilds being moved for free are the ones being merged into Venekor. Can I move from PvP to PvE servers? What about Exchange Servers? You will not be able to move characters between servers of different rule sets. Characters on a PvP server must stay on PvP servers. If your server has more than one rule modification (PvP + Exchange) you must qualify your target server for each requirement (i.e.: Characters on Vox can't transfer servers because no other server of similar qualifiers exists.) What happens if someone has the same name as me and I don't like how the default process renames my character? Incoming characters with duplicate names should find an 'x' appended to their name to make it unique. International players may find that the special characters used in their native language (such as the umlaut) are not properly represented on the destination. If issues such as this affect your character after the merge or a transfer, please submit a petition at http://support.station.sony.com/petition Please keep this information in mind as you prepare for the merge and any desired character transfers. After Darathar merges with Venekor, I'll be moving my 42 Ranger and 36 Paladin to Nagafen. I'll be levelling my ranger to 70 on Naggy
