how much does race affect attributes? im asking this because im seeing a difference in the starting attributes for races. is there only a difference in the beginning, or does each race build some attributes faster than others? are there any racials? if so could i have a link to them? i made a halfling ranger for their high starting agility, but im starting to wonder if thats irelevant..

For most classes race is irrelevant, but since the release of EoF Wood Elfs were given 2% range crit racial, so they are the best.

<p>Woodelfes ftw when it comes to rangers just for the above mentioned fact.</p><p>Our AA line gives us quite a decent base crit already (22%) but after that its realy hard to get it any higher since ranged crit items just arent as common as melee ones atm. Thats where the racial helps a lot, especially since rangers benefit more from crits than most others classes if they use a wide dmg-spread bow.</p>

<cite>pseudocide wrote:</cite><blockquote>someone told me half elves get +2% range crit as well</blockquote> They were incorrect (I have a 70 Guard and a 57 Brig that are Half Elven). Wood Elves are the only race with a + to ranged crit % that I have seen. My High Elf Ranger didn't have it as a racial ability either incase anyone else asks about that one.

<p>Does no one else have a Fae ranger? I have a Fae at level 46, and a wood elf at 43, and the Fae just seems to be more fun. I don't have to worry about falling damage or skilling up safe fall, I can run 10% faster, and they start with much better intelligence. All this may not make up for losing 2% crit chance, but not everyone HAS to do the min/max thing and take the optimal race.</p><p>So, ANY other Fae rangers out there?</p>

What about races with +5% in-combat speed bonus? Does this bonus stack with Agi-AA ability (++ in-combat speed), and Dirge's buff (++ in-combat speed)?

One could argue that the kerrans with their 5% in-combat runspeed would have an advantage in kiting.

Well since they introduced this +2% to ranged crit to wood elves they should give us a chance to change our race.  When choosing a race for myRanger i would have definitely gone with wood elf.  Oh and btw when making a new character are all these special starting attributes listed somewhere on the screen? i hate the mystery fog that seems to always surround us when playing this game.  you shouldnt have to do in depth research online before customizing your character.  All that info should be right up there on the screen when you create your toon. Sorry if i started complaining...but...[Removed for Content]....<img src="/smilies/0320a00cb4bb5629ab9fc2bc1fcc4e9e.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

<p>I too am new to the game and would like to know where I can go to read up about all these racial abilities?  When I log into the game and make a character it doesn't list anything you speak of.  And when I look around the EQ2 site I don't find any information on racial abilities beside attributes.  Can someone please help a newb out and point me to the information so I can read up?</p><p>Thanks.</p>

No. If you wanna know what wood elves get at higher level, you need to get to that level imo.

Can anyone post a link to the website that references the wood elf 2% crit trait? When i google it i get all these outdated websites.

<p>they definately need to change the racial traits. When I choose my halfling all that time ago it was because they were considered one of the best scouts with their higher AGI (remember when that meant something) now this is pretty meaningless with str and int the biggest ranger factor. Now you get certain classes that get a free ranged crit increase while others dont. Am I meant to re roll a tree hugger just for this trait just to get up dps wise with others? </p>

2% ranged crit is nice, but it isn't going to make your dps go thru the roof. It is still ONLY 2%, its not worth rerolling your toon for.

<p>im an orge ranger and love it personally no granted the 2% raned crit is nice racialy trait if your starting a new toon but to reroll for a racial trait i personally wouldnt do it.</p>

half elves should get this too =( 2% isn't a lot, but it all adds up in the end.  Not worth rerolling for unless you've got a lot of time on your hands.
