Hey guys. EQ2 Launcher here, and nearly a launcher for EQ1. I'm growing a bit, well, concerned... here's my thing.

I've got a lvl 70 necro that wasn't 70 when EoF came out. I've got a lvl 70 guardian freshly-raid-geared that I had actually retired two months after KoS and who wasn't 70 when EoF came out and only started playing again a few days before EoF launched. My necro has 81 AA and my guardian has 59 (he was my origional toon). My guard is about as well equipped as he's ever going to by shy of somthing new for his legs and a moa; my necro is just waiting on the right raid drops. I've done what ocllection quests I can afford and aside from a handful of solo mobs, there's really not much left for me to farm on a regular basis to even get my cash flow up. There are instances I've done more than a few times - Nest, HoF, OOB, CoV, MMCatacombs. I have my god cloak on both and a CoF on my tank. Godking 2.0 on the necro and a fabled hammer on the guardian.

I've cleared out my journals pretty well.. only have about 20 quests left each. I'm working on SoD, but it's not winning me over right now. I'm stuck on Riddle on the Claymore line for my necro, simply because I hate Sanctum with all the passion I have left in me. I love the layout of Unrest but I don't like to spend that long in an instance when there's no guarentee anything will drop that the group can use (Love the fact that'll change in the next LU, yay!).

I guess what I'm saying is, short of rolling another new toon and redoing a ton of content again, I'm starting to feel rather done. I've not done the upper end raids and I don't know if I ever will. I've done almost a thousand quests on both of my characters, according to their journals, and have done most of the HQ's in the game. I have my Mistrunner and Nightsteed; I'm loaded up on Adept III's and Master I's. I don't really wanna run back to zones I've greyed out and do content there I missed.. it's just not challenging that way. I've done two toons to 70, and a few over 20.

Heck, for that matter, my wife has a 63 fury, a 70 conj (she started her shortly after EoF launch.. said conj had almost 90 AA before she hit lvl 70 last week) and a 70 defiler. She also has a 50 monk and some other lower tier alts.. so she's feeling it worse than me. Only reason she's logged on the last few days isn't because we don't still have things to do for our toons.. just that it's the same old same old with our toons, and she knows the only way she's going to get any further is through raiding here and there. There are other reasons, lesser reasons, but still.

Can someone please tell me if there's anything new comming down the line? I know many people that have long been at or very near the AA cap other than myself. I know many people that are sick of OOB and CoV and if I ever have to do another Nest run again there's very good odds I will actually fail on purpose just to see if I can make a challenge in the place. A level cap increase would be great - a SIGNIFICANT one. 85, 90. I'd not shy away from 100. Maybe that seems sick but I kinda like the grind.. the new gear, the new zones, the new everything. I'm not a guy that sits and focuses - ok, gotta be the first to 90! - or anything like that. I just like knowing that every day, I'm closer to a hard to reach, hard to get to, unquestionably difficult goal.

And I'm getting bored. I don't wanna be bored.

So.. there anything coming down the pipe? /sigh

If you are looking for something big down the line like an expansion, you probably have a wait. They are planning on releasing smaller bits of content like the Unrest zone hopefully soon. If you are currently really bored, to be honest, you probably won't get anything to totally rekindle interest for a while. That's why I keep subscriptions for mulitple games so I won't burn myself in one.

/shrug Maybe Guild Wars is correct in their theory that players need more than one game to play to stay interested.

Play a char with xp off from the second you get off the island, never turn it on. You'll be suprised how many things there are in game that you've never done. I have almost 1300 quests done, and i'm only lvl 52

If your burned out there is nothing wrong with taking a couple month break from the game. I've done it numerous times with EQ1. For other suggestions, I would recommend title hunting and tinkering. I think it's pretty fun to earn titles. Like the monk pebble ones in Fallen Dynasty. That adventure pack came out like a year ago almost and you still don't see many "Golden Sun"' titles. Or on your lists of zones you've done alot I don't see Nizara or Mistmoore Castle on there. Those are both challenging zones for 1 group that are quite rewarding. Also tinkering is pretty fun. Even if your not into crafting (I'm not), I still found it pretty enjoyable working my way up with that skill. And there are useful abilities that you can gain outside your class with tinkering like feign death. If none of those ideas appeal to you then like I say... take a break from the game. Try Nintendo Wii or something.

If you are feeling burnt out of the game itself, take a break. If you feel you want more to do or take more risk, roll on a pvp server.

Heh, that's the thing. I just took a break a few months ago.

Sad as it sounds this is one of the big things my wife and I do together. Not really a whole lot to do here in our town so this is where we log on to socalize and stuffs. We're geeks, heh. So we gotta keep trying to find ways to keep the game interesting, and well, it sucks when we get duo-burnt.

Lord of the Rings Online releases in a little under a week.

My suggestion would be for you and your wife to play that game till Rise of Kunark comes out.

Also, don't know how you feel about consoles, but I find that the Xbox 360 is a great way to break the grind. Plus, Achievements are super addictive.

The wife would probably really dig Xbox Live Arcade. (Is it just me, or do women really enjoy arcade puzzle games?)

Just mix it up. Lots of options.

Easy, just give yourself an obsession.

You see I had trouble playing other games, because I was always thinking I could be doing something constructive in EQ. So I came up with an idea.

Example: Run OoB until everyone in the guild above 60 get their boots. And considering there is 40 people in the guild that is above 60, they call me nuts. We run the zone, if something drops that the group can't use, log an alt, if no alts, then guild offer it. They get invited to the group, zone in, and everyone is happy. And you feel good about helping a guidie with something nice.

Also use your supper powers: Even mentored down in great gear your still stronger than your average bear. Adopt a noob, basicly find a lowbie who is struggleing, a level 12 with level 1-10 quested gear and help them in zones. They will think your god's. This also allows you to do that pestcky lowbie quest that was completed, but greyed out for years.

Tradeskill Yea I know it sux, but pick one that is intersting. I hate tradeskilling with my sage or jeweler, but love my carpenter. Making stuff taking it to my house and displaying it, come up with new decorations, kind of neat to really "See" the items you make. I find myself going back to harvest pervious teir's stuff just to make a few more items to finish a dinning room, or bedroom set.

lol pvp in this game is the biggest pain in the [Removed for Content] there is. Expecially since most of the changes that would make it worth playing are still stuck on test and I can testify to this have not been tested yet even with the copies having made it over. Partly because there isnt to many over there. If you want a change from this games playstyle id suggest playing a game like vanguard for the differance in play style, classes, and defiantly the pvp. Or you could go older and try out ffxi but unless you have patience and I mean EXTREME patience for leveling and grping.

I get the burnt out feeling at times. I always attribute it to playing EQ2 non-stop for the last 3 years. It's not that I lack stuff to do or can't progress any of the numberous characters I have. I just have played a few too many levels with them.

Here's how my last few months of gaming have been. I got a free copy of Vanguard and tried it out. I like the game. It's really pretty and I definately have the machines to run it. I thought that I might as well get station access. I have EQ and SWG characters Im trying to move but until then, I have been playing Vanguard, MxO and Planetside. I didn't really get SA to play anything else but Vanguard but I thought I'd try out the other titles since I bought the box the collection for about 30 bucks and I was paying for them anyways.

I was pleasently surprised with MxO and Planetside being fun to play. Right now, I'm playing PS which I like better the BF2142. The graphics may not be as nice but I don't feel it's such a death feast FPS as BF large maps are. I like the large maps and you really get a feel for an environment where 3 teams are fighting for planet control. It's kinda scary when you are stuck in a base surrounded by Max units. I also, like getting in on seed battles where your team has 10% or so on the planet and are trying to take your first base(?), last night we got in the middle of the other two teams and basically impacted the battlefield, turning the table on the team that had the most territory. Then we left. It's entertaining to me and I get that new feeling in the game although I have played many MMOs and FPS. I'm anxious to play it again tonight.

MxO was a lot of fun due to being able to dress up in cool duds and have lots of loot drop plus the skills tree. I also play with my wife and I get a kick out of her being an asskicking baddy in the game. She likes the gear in the game and always likes to put on new stuff or change her look. It's basically a nice change from the fantasy genre. I like the huge city and it seems alive on the right graphics settings. There is really no end-game so there is an ongoing storyline and a lot of live events. I'm actually not playing the game for a while ATM because the storyline entails the smith virus being present in the game and that means I run into them sometimes blindly while using the hardlines. I'm not into being one-shooted in level appropriate neighborhoods. Some might find that fun though.

So basically, I got 2 staton access accounts and my wife and I change it up depending on the mood. It's usually mine and, although she like EQ2 the best, I know she's having fun playing with me on anything. . I will probably log onto EQ to do some low level PvP and SWG when I get characters moved. I plan to try the space game and stick my wife in as a gunner. It's sounds fun now but I haven't tried it.

I didn't necessarily get Station Access for what's availible today. I'm looking forward to some future titles and really hope the ones I'm looking forward to are stuck on the pass as well. Then I just need to buy a couple of boxes. I'm not sure I'm looking forward to any other games coming out except AoC and Warhammer. I've heard LotR is pretty basic and I'm not much into the simple games. So it's station pass and maybe those other 2. I'd recommend trying a new game. I don't think there's any rule you have to stick to one game at a time. I imagine it's more of a money thing which I feel gaming is cheap entertainment.

I've been playing EQ2 since release, and I've been feeling the same way recently. Add to that the fact that no one in PvE seems to value a raiding monk these days... and I wonder why I keep playing. I've rolled alts and progressed a few pretty far along, but I'm not really feeling "interested" in the grind to 70 at the moment (I'm sure I will be again, I'm not too worried).

I've read a lot on the boards that monks are a pretty decent pvp class, so last night I rolled a monk on a pvp server. Since she's on completely different server than all my other toons, there's no twinking possible - I'm starting over with zero in the bank and the newbie Gi on my back. I've decided on alchemy as a craft so she can craft her own adept III spells, and I'm locking combat xp at strategic intervals along the way to make sure she's on her best game the whole way up the ladder.

And today its all I can think about Talk about getting the juice flowing. Its a whole different way of thinking from PvE, and I'm absolutely excited about playing again.

I can't wait to prove to someone, somewhere, that a well-played monk has value

At any rate, she gives me something to be excited about during those "main toon" blahs.

Roll new characters (classes you have never played)... in a starting city that you have never played in... or are not use to playing and don't grind and try to do all the quests that you can. You could also level lock. I have been playing the same character since 2004 and im not burned out... I also have not level locked. I guess it is because instead of going out and leveling alot, I go out and and adventure. I guess it just depends on how you play. Good luck with figuring out what you want to do
