View Full Version : Can't equip two dual-wield weapons?

I'm afraid I may never figure out the weaponry in this game! I have a monk who carries two dual wield weapons, one in the primary and one in the secondary slot, no problem. So my fury just reached 42 and I bought her new weapons -- two dual wield quarter staffs. However, I can't equip the second one in the secondary weapon slot. I get a message that the weapon can't be equipped in that location. What's up with that?

I thought at the same time crusaders got to use bows and tower shields, we gained the ability to dual weild. Don't quote me though I've never tried.

Yes, apparently us healers are not coordinated enough to use both hands at once.

Oh, so THAT'S the problem! I somehow totally missed that piece of knowledge about furies. Thanks for the enlightenment.

The rational is likely a game balance one - the use of two weapons is kept to the melee classes, as the spellcasters have, well, spells with which to do damage. From an RP perspective, it is common in many magic systems that there needs to be a hand free or available to cast spells, as they require some hand waving. Even when using a two-handed weapon, the caster can hold it in one hand while casting with the other, they just can't attack with the weapon at the same time. Using two weapons would have a weapon in both hands at all times, requiring dropping/sheathing a weapon in order to cast. Don't ask about crusader/bard casting and that theory. Maybe they are more verbal with their spells.

Dont feel bad. A while ago when my mystic was smaller, she had a one hander sword but it did piercing damage and she could use it. I log into her one day and start beating on some mob when I noticed that she was missing on every single hit. I was freaking out! I thought they majorly nerfed the melee mystic and was soo confused. After making it through my shock, I noticed that I had a message saying that I did not have the skill required to use the weapon. Sneaky SOE! They changed my weapon to a real sword and/or slashing damage and although I could equip it, I could do absolutely nothing with it. I knew she could not weild swords but the tag said all priests and I thought Id give it a try heh. Thats my story lol

Is there any use for a dual weild item if you can't have 2? They don't seem powerful enough as a signle item to be worth anything? I wonder if they should just remove the option from healers or any class who can't use two. I, too, was one who at one point during my journey, got two dual-weilds only to find out I couldnt use the second.
