View Full Version : Our AAs arent so great...

I got sick of how my lvl 68 monk isnt really considered a "real" tank so I rolled a mini zerker just to try out the joys of plate armor.... I have noticed that zerker AA skills are actually useful for the most part, unlike many of our monk skills....  Why do we have things like a "teleport" when they get a skill that removes all negative effects from using a defense stance e.g. it gets rid of the dps reduction that we experience when in full defense mode yet retains the boost to your armor mitigation etc.... I know there are many pro's and cons between all of the classes and I for one love playing my monk but these differences really do seem unfair to me.... Does anyone know if AAs will ever be looked into?

Does anyone know if AAs will ever be looked into? </blockquote>War tree is really nice comparing to brawler tree. Our brawler tree is a joke comparing to war tree. They can have 24% chance of aoe proc on auto-attack comparing to our 8%. They get dps and mitigation boost from same wis line. They get tsunami like skill from agi line. Their str line is also very nice for both tanking and dps. (increasing critical hit and hate) By the way, I doubt SoE will ever change our brawler tree.<img src="/smilies/2e207fad049d4d292f60607f80f05768.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

Which is worlds better than our stupid damage proc. Because it's autoattack, they can make it do more damage with Str, +DPS, +Haste, +Double Attack.. not to mention procs going off on each of them.</p><p>It's like our Crane Flock, only on all the time at 24% chance. Which, as I understand it, can be improved by those "increases chances of procing" that some classes get in their EoF AA's. Insanity.</p><p> Honestly.. Warrior KoS AA's beat the hell out of Brawler AA's.</p><p>They get to choose from a list that has: - +20 DPS - +17.5 Haste - +22.4% Crits - 24% autoattack hitting AE - 76% Double Attack on a onehander - +10% Hate - +5% avoidance when using a buckler (okay, not as hot but... uncontested!!) - +Defense - +Parry - +~500 mitigation</p><p> Seriously... any three DPS oriented options can beat the Brawler's choices. They even keep the higher crit chance, while ours was nerfed shortly after KoS comes out. There is no wonder why Brawlers are no longer the best Fighter for DPS and have to work at being better melee DPS than say a Zerker going to town with AE autoattack, Crits and Double Attack... And honestly, +hate and +mitigation kick the hell out of any two defensive choices we could choose.</p><p> However, it's been so long now that I don't see them making a change to the KoS AA's until they make some drastic change to Brawlers to create some kind of balance.</p>

Maybe if we make enough constructive non flamey noise then a red name may take note.... On a side note, I always saw monk as a kind of shaolin fighter type, in RL shaolin monks actually use swords etc.  It would be cool if we had the option to use 1h swords, that way we could have some of the awesome 1h weapons that zerkers get to use as lets face it, our gear isnt that great once you hit lvl 60 ish.  Most of whats on offer (at least on my server) is fury / shaman gear which whilst loaded with WIS almost never has anything thats useful for a brawler i.e. STR / AGI / STA and decent MIT...  So to recap, please red name, we are one of the most ripped off classes in game, please show us some love!!

No doubt the Brawler and Monk AA's suck compared to others. I'm sitting at 82 AA's with the Brawler tree filled. I got an AA's last night and I'm looking at my Monk tree and have no place to put it. I mean NOTHING stood out like "Hey put it here you want this skill". IMHO the only two skills I would keep/want in the Monk tree are Mongoose stance and Heal increase. They need to trash all the rest are start over. What I would love to see is something like.. <b>1 Point</b> - Double attack (A weapon version of double attack. 1st point 5% max of 5 points) <b>1 Point</b> - Knock out Punch (If a mob is below 25% this ability has a 10% per point chance to kill the mob Non-epic mobs only) <b>1 Point</b> - Rapid Kick (This ability will add a kick for every successful hit in Flailing Centipede. Damage amount is based on points added.) <b>3 Points</b> - Unresistible group taunt (We only have one and that makes it hard to tank group mobs. Making our 1 group taunt unresistible isn't going to be game breaking) <b>End Ability</b> - Something like Pressure Point or a mini version of Dispatch (How many raids have you gone on with no Brigand. Well if a Brigand isn't there a Monk could fill in with a mini version of it) <b>End Ability</b> - Able to use chain armor (Ok make this one so you need to spend 30+ points into Body before you can get it. This would be for people who want to be TANKS.) <b>End Ability</b> - Reset (Back in the days of DAoC we had a reset skill that would let us reset all cool down. Put it on a 15min reuse timer) <b>End Ability</b> - Meditating Link (This ability will scarafic you health for your target. While using your ability your target will use your health. The Monk is stunned while this ability is up.) Well those are some of my ideas. I know things like wearing chain armor would be hard for SOE but the idea is for Monks that want to tank raids.

And if we could just steal some of the zerker AA's from the KoS tree that would be sweet. I for one would love my Coiling serpent to not destroy my dps for example, so an AA skill that removes the negative effect on my slashing / crushing etc would be awesome!
