It seems to be about time for another release to keep the game interesting, havent heard anything yet about any upcoming adventure packs or better, new expansions. Anyone have, even a faint idea if there is anything planned? I have been playing WOW again now on a daily basis, just loging into eq2 whenever my guild is raiding. Kinda dying to get some more levels to burn through or more AA point etc.

Well there is Rise of Kunark, which is rumored to be the name of the next expansion. No one really knows when it will be released as it hasn't even been officially announced yet. I'd say probably another 6-9 months and it will be out and available. SOE has stated that there will be no Adventure Packs for a while. The only other thing we have are the monthly Game Updates (GU's). Most things in GUs are incremental updates but they do release new quests or questlines and also introduce new zones at times too.

I would rather they go slow and release finished content rather than pushing out garbage every few months.

Hopefully Kunark will be worth the wait!

Would really like to see some new content myself as the content for the Lvl 70 crowd seems to be getting stale. However I am willing to wait and be patient if Kunark is as good or better than EoF.

Wouldn't mind seeing an Adventure pack though in between now and then. Perhaps Guk?!

Expansion/s expected around August/September best case? - no way good enough in my opinion; yes development and implementation costs money but it is ages since EoF was released and a lot of that is for the below-70 crowd. Saying that I do adore it big time. Free additional content?? Heck yeah, seeing as the game is getting very stale (see above) and I am beginning to think that SOE are concentrating more on developing new games rather than pay attention to those already in existence.

/agree...

to me and others I've spoken with, EoF is pretty much stale and/or mostly farm content now.

Perhaps the soon to release conan will light fires under SOE's buts, and get soemthing new to us sooner.

SoE, I imagine, will always be working on new titles. That doesn't mean that they slack off on other endevours that are making money. EQ2 is one of their bigger titles so this game will get attention. Now, I don't think free content will please everyone because it won't always be aimed at the cap players for the sense of progression but some of the stuff can be used and enjoyed by everyone. I'm thinking some of planned new stuff will be welcomed by a lot of people.

Wasn't Odus mentioned in the podcast? The Hole use to be one of my favorite raid zones. I hope it comes back but hope they give shammy's the mini-me spell.

And from a pvp perspective, we'd like some content added to our game as well

We've even had a few good ideas on it too. For example, take a random pve server and dump the population of a pvp server on them for a day and make it a 1day FFA (kidding, we've actually had some good ideas).

From a pvp perspective, i think we need less new zones unless there is a new level cap. New quests, would be great. Changes in content for existing zones, fantastic. New zones may be great for pve, but for pvp they spread out the population of the servers and make it harder to find a fight. there is a lot of old and tired content out there. There are a lot of swatches of fields on the maps that just have nothing of interest in them beyond some mobs. Add a quest there. Have some dwarves pop out of the mountain side in Ant and open up a new underground tunnel there with a bunch of new content under that mountain. Even if it's lvl 20-30 content, and ant becomes more of a morph like butcherblock is.. that's ok. Keep it in the same zone! So many maps have places to add things like that.

I am by no means saying that soe should set direction for EQ2 based on pvp, just consider our needs when you add heaping piles of new zones (and worse, instances), and realize what it will do to those who play on the red servers. We love the new content as much as the folks on the blue servers, but we don't like zoning for 2 hours to try to find a fight
