the curiosity bug hit me...anyone have any idea how many levels ALL the collection quests would give a level one player? including the rare blue shinys, but minus the tome quests.

I'd guess you'd end up in the upper 30s to low 40s, though I doubt there is anyone who could say with any certainty. That toon would also be basically useless, as all their skills would be 5s when the mobs they were fighting would be geared for someone with around 200s. Would make for some funny guild spam, though.

I saw a screenshot (guild chat events) of someone doing this and levelling to 40 something i think....

There was a screen shot of someone starting at about level 20 and getting to about 32 with 120ish collections. I figure managing to get every other single one available would be good for getting you to upper 30s/low 40s. Of course, that depends on which ones that screenshot included, and I would imagine turning them in in the right order (do all the lower levels, then work your way up as much as is practical) would factor into it. I know that level 60-70 KoS collections netted my level 8-12 mule toons a full level for each one, so I'm thinking that first 15-20 levels should only take about 30-40 collections. After that, things slow down a fair amount.

I'd recommend waiting till level 10 at least. No AA before then.

I leveled a character from 6 to 42 off roughly 160 collections, and then to level 61 off location xp, and non-killing quests. I could probably get another level or two off book collections, but it would require a ton of work for no-trade pages.

A fellow guildmember got to 47 off of collections IIRC. Granted, he is trying to make it to level 70 without any kills at all. Which greatly inhibits the amount of quests and grinding he can do.

130 Collection quests at once. Not every collection but quite a few of them. Picture from somewhere here on the boards, dont remember where.

I got a character from level 22 to 43 with about 150 collections. I did get one tome collection finished. I didn't manage to finish the blue shinies from MMC or the regular or blue shinies from CMM. Didn't finish the Nektulos pine needles or the shiny lamp pieces from DoF. Can't remember which other ones I didn't finish. Nia~

from what i remember a dev posted that doing disco exp and collections at a level that isnt intended(i.e. lvl 70 collection at lvl 1) will net less exp than if you did them when they conned yellow or white. maybe finish all the collections for the level and then turn those in, then move on? that should get you to maybe 45 i would think if all collections would get you 1-40

If you turn in collections in the right order you can squeez out another few levels. Do not turn in level 60 collections at level 10. Turn in collections from lowest to highest, do not turn them all in at once. Leave at least one collection item in your inventory. Go to the collection npc examine the lowest collections first, turn them in to the npc, then examine a few more. Devs told us by turning in collections too earlier we forfeit a lot of the experience and achievement for them. I aim to turn in collections within 15 levels usually.

I was under the impression that collection quests gave a set amount of adventure and aa xp with a cap related to level (as implied in the above quote). A guildy was saying that, instead, they "grey out" like regular quests as they get too far below you and that you get a larger total return mentoring down for each turn in. Can anyone confirm if this is true?

I've been 70/100 a long time now, and I've got 46 collections to turn in ranging from level 10-75 lol. As for the low end, I think it is just perception. A high lvl toon with high AA will hardly even notice a low lvl collection turn-in, so there is a perception that you need to mentor down.

I tried the mentoring technique and it didn't matter. I got the same xp/AA as if I wasn't mentored. I did this with the history books which I assumed all gave the same xp/AA for each lvl 20 (part II) part. One book reading at 28, the other mentored at 16 - same xp/AA was rewarded. I would assume the same is for collections, but its hard to test since collections are kinda unique. I guess you could try it with a couple lvl 50 bone collections if you really wanted to test it out. Would need to be 50+ though and find someone to mentor down to the 40s.

Thanks, that's what I was originally thinking. I did a test on a toon at level 70/79. He gained the same aa for level 35 tome collections Bird Watching Part I at level 70 as he did with Bird Watching Part II while mentored down to 32. I think I was fed misinformation

So what do you think will happen if a 70/100 turns in 150+ quests when RoK appears next week?
