From a raid perspective, we are in pretty good shape, if still a little too dependent on equipment...primarily a fabled bow. And quite honestly, there is still a disparity between one and two-handers versus bows although it is much better than it was at one point. That being said, with the right equipment, we can do our job (dps) very efficiently normally being in the top 4 if not the top 2 on the parse.

<p>I was going to ask the question " what do Rangers bring to a raid that makes them desireable "</p><p>Zho basically answered that. If you don't have the equipment to make your DPS of raid quality, then Rangers have very little value in raids. </p><p>I was away for along time and have been back for about 6 weeks now. I am finding that I am very far behind in every area of the game. I have also noticed that if you are not raiding then you are in solo mode <img src="/smilies/9d71f0541cff0a302a0309c5079e8dee.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></p><p>However, all I can say to Thumatos is to play the way you want to and have Fun.</p>

I don't know what level you are, but you mention raiding, and to me, that means 60+ I have never been kicked from a group due to a lack of dps. I have never been asked what my gear is or what level my CAs are. When I log in to the 60-69 channel or the 70 channel no one acknowledges me, so I really don't have a rep on the server. I am but a faceless player. I post that to say this. The only time I have problems finding groups, is when groups aren't available. Sure, I can sit around lfg for an hour or two. But it isn't like other dps classes are getting snapped up left and right. I have seen 5 different healers lfg at a time, then 4 hours later, you can't bribe a healer to a group. I do see groups looking for a particular type of dps class. For instance, they will say they are looking for mage in channel. I assume that is because they already have a scout for instance, and don't want people to compete, or want to balance a little better. I have seen this from inside groups myself I have been invited to groups while lfg where everyone else in the group was the same guild. I will say from about 62 to 68ish, I always seemed to get SoS groups and you get burned out on that. I do PUGs about 70% of the time. Sure some of them are bad, but those can be fun too. I have evac and I have gate, so I can't be left anywhere. I have a lvl 70 zerker that I don't play anymore. I didn't want to raid tank, and you only need so many tanks anyway. I started my ranger and found he solo quested fine, and off to the races I went. He is a blast to play, and I spent all my playing time on him now. Most groups want 2-4 dps classes, so there are just more openings in groups I think than say a zerker or guardian. Poisons hurt the ol'wallet though. I can't get caustic under 4 gold per, so a stack is 80 gold and it won't take me long to blow through that.
