I have been getting burned out from EQ2 recently so I decided to take a tour and try some other MMO's I have installed on my computer. Mostly to prove to myself theres really nothing better out there to play.

Played WoW. Level 32/70 in 4 hours. Called it quits at that point

Played Archlord. Level 14/99 in 8 hours. Except for the lag its a nice game. No community though. No tech support.

Played LOTRO. Level 5 in 30 minutes, stopped playing because the game is so much worse than in beta. I can't stand to play it anymore *Cry* why did they have to nerf all the classes to oblivion WHY!

Played Vanguard. Computer crashed after about 5 minutes. I need to upgrade LOL

Played Knight Online. Yeah... my character kept getting stuck in the ground.

Played Pristontale. grind... grind... grind.... grind....... Passed out at my computer after 5 hours of straight grinding... WHERE ARE MY QUESTS!

Nothing compares to EQ2. Any other games I should try to renew my faith that this is the best MMO on the market? So far Archlord was the most fun. The quests were uncreative (Kill 5 snakes, now kill 5 bunnies!) but the story behind them was nice to read. Also the in game models were very cool.

kind of confused on your WOW statement. Are you claiming you achieved level 32 in 4 hours? Or that you went from 32 to 70 in 4 hours? Either way both are kind of far fetched. Or are you claiming neither of those? LOL just sort of confused right now.
Vanguard is a lot of fun and it's getting better. I got Station Access recently and think MxO was a nice change from fantasy. Great Community. Otherwise, I think EQ2 is the best game out at the moment. It keeps getting better too.

Also, if slow leveling is what you're looking for in a game, might I suggest working at a steel mill?

ok... that one went over my head... I think that he may mean that there is such a thing as "too fast"?

I achieved level 32 in 4 hours... No I'm not kidding. Theres nothing to do at the low levels, so I just ground it out.

There is such a thing as too fast. I think Eq2 has become a little too fast if I can get to level 20 in 2 hours. Can probably get a level 70 in a month if I focus on that goal. (Already have a couple)

There is such a thing as too slow. Pristontale is a good example. You spend HOURS UPON HOURS killing the SAME monster with different names, and what do you get? YAY access to kill a different monster for hours T_T

I am just wondering what other games are out there and/or are comming out soon, I'm really looking at Aion. But there dosn't seem to be much else.

The problem is that you are trying to hit those high levels. Most players don't try to hit lvl 32 in 4 hours. I've played WoW for years and have never hit 32 in 4 hours. Maybe a week. Look at Vanguard. It was suppose to be hardcore leveling and someone hit the level cap in a month.

I don't know what to tell you. Anyone determined can hit high levels in almost any game. They don't design the level curve to be so large that it scares away new players. The larger the gap between the top players and the new players decreases the chances of getting new subscriptions as the game gets older.

You could try Lineage 2. Hitting the top level takes so long that most players just use macros or bots.

Ok, I'm calling bunk here. I've leveled 3 characters over 60 and have 9 characters 19+ in WoW and I can guarantee there is no possible way to hit lvl 32 in 4 hours. The absolute fasted you can hit level 10 (without serious guild help) is just under 2 hours played. I know because I played in the Blizzard tournament and the guy who beat me did it in that time. You might- and I'm stressing might- be able to hit 15 in 4 hours. I normally don't say anything but that's just crazy. In all honesty I've found the leveling speed in both games around the same, with WoW being a bit faster because of the ability for any class to solo easily.

DynamicPerformance

Have you considered trying out PvP for a change of pace? EQ2's pvp system isn't perfect, but it's a TON of fun

Yeah... leveling in 4 hours to 32 is not possible. If you had said maybe 15 or 20... I'd sort of believe that, but 32?? And I think it's funny how so many Vanguard players talk about how the "game has potential and is getting better".... that's what I keep hearing and hearing, but from everything I have seen and read, the game is one big horrible bug fest. An MMO with "potential" is also known as "DOA" because nobody cares about the possible happy pink unicorn fantasy game that it "COULD "become.

Instead of going for levels, stop grinding in eq2 and enjoy the content. Lock your experience if you have to and enjoy getting more AAs at earlier levels.

Just powerleveling yourself to highest level will naturally kill off your interest.

It all depends on your play style. no one should be trying to impress their style onto anyone else. Some people like to just grind to end game level, some like to stop and smell the roses so to speak...Niether is wrong, it's just a choice. Each game you mentioned has it's pro's and cons. If you chose to play EQ2 you get the best content with some of the poorest customer communication...but if you have no issues than this game is for you. No game should be played with blinders on. In fact, if you can afford to, you should always try the new games coming onto the market....Opinions are fine, but the key to finding out what game is for anyone is for them to try and decide....

I am in LOTRO beta but was not in closed beta.

I have nothing to compare current class dynamics to.

You can not and should not compare a non released product to live products. It will always be in a state of flux.

That being said, it IS a fun game. There are tons of quests to do even at the level cap of 15 they currenty have in open beta.

I leveled about 90%+ just running quests in the Shire.

I thought LOTR was so good in all the beta's(lucky me) that I paid the 199$ for lifetime. Love this game too and will still play here as well. Wish SOE would do a lifetime membership thing as well. I would rather just pay up front for the game instead of monthly.

I'm looking for a game that is fun to play and relax in. I'm on the PVP server, I play a medium powered char and have attained dreadnaught. I've raided every zone, I've done most quests (2k and counting, its getting repetative now) And i'm just not sure what I want to do anymore... Real life is seeming more and more... fun compared to the "games" I play.

Not to judge but it doesn't sound like you and I have the same definition of "relax"

From what you have posted, it really does appear that you find your enjoyment in getting powerful rather quickly. When you do, though, you end up looking around and wondering what else to do with your time. Newer games aren't really designed for that sort of playstyle unless a part of your gameplay includes raiding (and, even then, for those who put their minds to it that content is lacking).

If you really still want to try and find a game to play that won't let you max out your power in a few hours you will either have to look at something like Lineage II or head into the original EQ. The former I know has a repuation of being one gigantic grindfest, the latter is just flat out old (meaning you will start so far being the power curve that it can be a huge turn-off). EQ is releasing an anniversary box-set on the 23rd of this month that includes every expansion released so far so you could always give that a go. If anything, I can guarantee that while you may be able to level normal levels relatively quickly you won't be anywhere near powerful after 4 hours

RL is best place to keep you challenged and stay interested if you re-channel your energy into RL instead of games which would be more useful and be more productive. RL never is easy and you cannot even die in there as well. There! That's your real challenge and you cannot even see EVERYTHING that RL can offer.. There is endless of things that you can see and raid every RL lands.

Edit: Oh hell posted on my sister's account, didn't realise she had logged in today. /kick

Apart from the ones you mentioned, you should also try:-

Everquest 1 (EQ Online) -- try achieving max level in a few days and you'll lose badly. Still a great game after all these years. Community has always been very solid due to grouping and raiding requirements.

Guild Wars -- started good, getting very very good, new expansion then GW2 coming out soon. Lots of ways to customize your character. PvP is very good. No real community though and rife with immature players. Its graphics and sound engine is awesome with little to no lag.

City of Heroes/City of Villains -- suprisingly fun (especially the instanced missions). Decent PvP. Best character designer around (literally thousands of unique looks). Gets a tad tedious after a while but picks up once you get to know your way around. The missions are the real meat of the game.

Final Fantasy Online -- great game in so many ways, very much a timesink though and VERY group orientated. Pity about the community (hope you speak Korean & Japanese?). You may achieve a maxed character here in err, 2 years of solid play

Eve Online -- if you like sci-fi and space-based trading/ship-combat/politics etc this game is simply amazing. It has probably the most mature and smart (and downright scary) community I have yet encountered in an online game. Not a game for the meek or easily confused.
