View Full Version : Why do Updates Notes no longer appear at logon???

It used to be after a patch you could click on UPDATE NOTES from the logon screen and read the latest patch notes. This is no longer the case. We now have to wait until sometime in the afternoon when Kristie feels like posting them in the update sections.

I find this sheer lack of consideration of the players really and truly rude. Please take the time and effort to see that we can click on UPDATE NOTES while logging on and find them.

Why does this game have to make it so difficult to find out what was updated???? EQLIVE does a much better job of this -- maybe you should follow their lead instead of the careless approach you currently take.

First, thanks to Kirstie who, AFAIK, is not assigned the task of posting updates but who does anyway.

Therein lies the problem. There does not seem to be anyone with that job responsibility. Surely it's time to designate a particular individual staff member (with at least one backup person for things like sick days and vacation) who's job description includes posting of ALL updates. There is absolutely no valid reason why updates are not posted when the servers go down, letting us all know what's happening.

All there is, it appears, is indifference at SOE. Guys and gals this one is so easy to fix. Time to do the fixing.

I cannot agree enough with this one. When I was on this morning and saw the usual "server coming down for an hour" notice I sighed. There are no longer any scheduled downtimes or update notes until way after the fact.

There were no update notes for this mornings downtime. I'll ask Grimwell to write up something to the effect of "nothing to see move along" for days when we are doing just background/serverside maintenance

- K

Also, my updates notes says that "All Servers are Down" And it has said this for a few days if I recall. Luckily, its been wrong every time I logged in! lol

With the new browser support it would be really nice to have an /updatenotes command that opened them up in game.

Actually a lot of times I goto log in and see it download some files, and there's no notes to be found. Ever.

Yeah an /updatenotes command or when a patch has happened the first time you log in it should pop up the notes. SOOO tired of big patches coming that have been talked about for months, and then seeing a thousand "so what changed, I didn't feel like reading it." The sad thing is people then have to read your responce anyway... -shakes head-

Personally I have always wondered why they ever changed it so that you have to hit an extra button to see the update notes. Just seems to me to make a lot more sense if the first thing you see when log in after an update is the notes in the launcher. It was this way in EQLive when it first started then they changed it.
