Hey guys, I discovered EQ2 a few months ago, joining the najena server(high population of aussies), leveling a Fury to 43 or so. I since was drawn back to WoW to check out the TBC expansion and have discovered it has taken a minimal amount of time to get back to the same place i was at(ie: over it), and have returned to EQ2, confident again that it is a superior experience. I had leveled a shadowknight to lvl 30 or so, and since are lvl 37 and counting. My question, crap aside -> Are the general zone populations busier the higher you get up in the game? Thus far, i have found the zones themselves, as im out and about questing, very empty. This is not a problem, as a lot of things i can do solo, but there are heroic quests along the way that i find difficult to find people to help me do them - ie: knock off a named ^^^ quest mob etc, and i was just wondering if this is because, being a game that's been out several years, the majority of the player base is now in fact in the higher end of the game? I guess just having no idea what it's like having a max level character in EQ2, im hoping that the higher end / half of the game is more populated/busy than the lower half, which thus far has been pretty quiet..but dont get me wrong, enjoyable none the less.

what you experience is imho quite normal for a game that has 0 promotional efforts any more. It is even hard to buy one in some countries. So what you find in the lower level zones are either the (very few) real "new" players or alts of already existing ones. Unfortunately these players do other things in the regular gaming hours (raiding i.e.)

So you can expect more players only after introduction of new races, classes etc. as there are more existing players wanting to create a new toon (froglok, fay)

Unfortunately these players tend to powerlevel their toons as they dont want to "waste" lots of time with content they did already (several times). So it is very likely that you will find other players only for the real important or long-lasting item heritage quests (manastone, saving soles boots, prismatic)

That is what happens as they keep adding new territories but don't promote. The same amount of people gets spread out over larger and larger area. All new population seem to be farmers but since they hang out in instances, you don't see them except when they steal your multi hour camped named.

To answer your question: yes, the population gets much better as you get closer to the level cap. I have a hard time finding groups on my level 30ish alt, but no problems on my 52 alt. At level 70, you can find pick up groups any time of the day with minimal problem.
