I am posting this in The Newbie Yard, as this seems to be the best place for this. For a solo/farming alt when taking a break from my mystic, does anyone have some good recommendations? This seems like an "ask three people, get four answers" type of question. So far, I've tried: Necro, betrayed to Conj: Would solo well, if pet spells past adept 1s were not so insanely expensive. A T5 M1 pet costs more than all my mystic's spells put together. Plus, they tend to die fast if a mob gets on them, and pet can't hold agro or is dirt napping. Berserker: Supposedly one of the better solo classes, but even with the T2 rare armor set and all spells at adept 1 with some AD3s and M1s thrown in, at level 19 soloing a yellow one down is iffish, a 50/50 chance. Pretty much all my other characters can handle yellows, if not 2-3 at once. I'm not sure if its something I'm doing wrong, or if the "magic" for a zerker starts happening at later levels. Inquisitor: Oddly enough, with a bunch of CAs, he is a slow but decent soloer. Templar: Slightly slower then inquis. I am looking for a class that can take some hits, as wizards and warlocks seem to get squished pretty fast should something go wrong, or they have two mobs on them, and only one root spell up. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Depends a bit what exactly you want to do. Do you want to solo named? NO class is going to do this without investing in good equipment and adept 3s/masters. It'll never be EASY - names are supposed to be a challenge for groups!

Just for soloing non-named, most classes can do this. I think berserkers get better soloing at higher levels - lower tiers there's not that much distinguishing them from other fighters.

By farming, do you mean harvesting? If so, pet classes and classes with feign death are generally best for this.

I would think necro, conj, wizard, illusionist are all good choices for you, however if you specifically want something with more mitigation then maybe bruiser - with their high avoidance and self-healing plus feign death, they're a good class for getting around and getting out of sticky situations, and I've seen the skilled bruisers I know solo some pretty tough things.

If by farming you mean making money then you need to learn how to use the broker and sell stuff. Adept 1 drops and harvested rares still sell really well, even at tier 1.

Warrior classes tend to fare the best at solo-multi-mob encounters only because they can take the hits. If you stick to the 1 and 2 mob encounters any class will do, even illusionists. My illusionist is quites adept at mezzing one mob while I work on the other.

But you wont make a lot of money selling all of your loot to an NPC vendor. Selling stuff to other players is the trick.

i had a lot of luck farming Stormhold with my Monk. By farming I mean soloing named for master chests. Level high enough to turn the mobs green, outfit yourself in good gear and adept 3's and kill named easily. Feign Death comes in handy as well as Wind Walk (monk's invis). With this same Monk I could also solo Varsoon and get two Master Chests nearly every single time I went into his chamber.

Thats cuz you get 2 master chests every time in the chamber =) Provided you clear it fully. Bruiser's used to be the king of the jungle in soloing, but don't think they can do nearly what they used to. The Farming character of choice is the Conj. Shortly after that you have Necromancers. Those are going to be your best/safest bet.
