Best damage generators (non AA)

I'm starting a DPS class and looking for the top DPS classes that are most useful. Hows illusionist at putting out damage?

They can be quite good if you select your AAs specifically for it.

Always wondered about the illustionist class. My concern is that many players break any mez they create. So I've avoided that class due to those reasons. I'd say Wizard for pure DPS (before AA are applied), but utility they have an evac, and not much more. scouts are always nice, invis, evac, tracking...very useful

Really depends on what you want to do and how much utility. I'd say go with the DPS that sounds fun to play, and add the missing pieces to the group, when you play.

<p>Start off with a Scout, as they are very flexible, they have very nice sustained DPS and (some) off-tanking ability. If you get bored or decide you don't like scouts, try one of the pet classes (Conjy/Necro), then you might eventually decide to hit Wizzy/Warlock/etc.</p><p> Plus EQ2 is generally filled with smarter players than most other MMOs, you should really only expect your mezzes to be broken by an accidental AOE or something along those lines.</p>

Wiz/Warlock High DPS, little utility to speak of Assassin/Ranger Same Swashbuckler/Brigand High DPS, some nice utility. Tracking and Evac, like all scouts (and Wiz and Warden), group invis. But what they really bring to the table are their debuffs, they make the whole group better. Conjuror/Necro High DPS, a little utility, maximum flexibility. Our buffs don't really add <i>that</i> much to the group, our debuff is nice but only helps elemental damage dealers. We probably don't do anything the best* but we are a very close second at everything. Illusionist/Coercer Respectable DPS, unbeatable utility Dirge Troubador Same *We might be the best soloers but maybe not, it depends on what you definition of best soloer is...see the endlessly recurring treads elsewhere for more information about that.
