Hmm, a little background first ... Frequently when I'm running around I tend to "check out" the other players. You know, hit Inspect and see 'zackly what they are. I dunno why, I just do it. Yesterday while I was in the Qeynos colony I ran into some kind of tank which had some really snazzy gear on. Full plate armor and such. Funny thing is that none of that kind of stuff is found on the colony. So, being the curious cat I am, I asked him. Seems he has a high level char also and that char bought the stuff and put it in the bank where his new char took it out. How is this possible? I don't see any way to connect up with my other chars in any way. If my lvl 24 Wiz puts stuff in the bank it certainly isn't there for my lvl 11 Wiz. It might be nice to be able to do that although I can't really imagine myself doing it. Well yes, I can sort of see how it could help me. While I'm taking a new char through the Colony I pick up spells which I can't upgrade there; the lvl II's are just not in the "store". So I could buy them in one of the districts and put them in the bank, then take them out while I'm still on the island. But I can't figger out any way I could do it.

The 4 bottom slots in your bank vault are shared among all characters on each side, Freeport or Qeynos.

So, your high level character sticks items in a shared slot/box and a new character in the colony can get items from those slots at the banker.

Ask and ye shall receive an answer. Have a real nice day, folks. I'm off to Antonica.

In all of the many MMO's I've tried this practice is called twinking. Many people frown on the practice. It's why so all the EQ2 gear is level capped. If you want better gear, and you do every 10 levels or so, then you twink or buy it outright yourself. I often mail plat to my alts so they can see the items and restrictions.

The Station Exchange servers have a lot of twinking since you can buy items or plat for your new toons with real life cash and forego the gold-making grind. Some people like that, some don't.
