damage proc question

I finished the KoS mystic  globes collection last night and selected the fire aura earring.  My question is this, will that earring proc when i cast my mez spells??  This would be my first damage procing item and its a situation i'd not thought of until now.

Yes, it will proc on casting a mez.  However, the proc hits before the mez does, so the mob takes the damage, then is mezzed.  At that point all is fine, though you cannot do other things like debuff the mob without running the risk of breaking mezz with the earring on.
