View Full Version : Soloing 'Zerks vs Shadowkinghts

Hi all

Looking for a plate tank that can solo- I'm guessing my "best" 2 choices are above. Any real advantage to one over the other? I know the SK has taps for healing- but how do they stack up vs the Zerker's abilities to regen health in combat?

I realize that neither is a premier soloer- but any info or tips you can provide would be great!

For pure soloing the Shadowknight wins hands down, as you mentioned they have alot of life taps, but also some realy hard hitting aoe's that will allow you to burn down groups of solo mobs in an instant, they also have feign death if worst comes to the wost, as well as a reactive heal/damage spell, and harm touch, a high hitting instant cast but long recast spell that is great at finishing up fights or to give you the edge against tougher mobs. The life regen of the zerker can not compare the shadowknights lifetap's btw. I know this has been a rather onesided post, but dont think I dont like the zerkers, theyr great tanks, they just dont solo as well as the shadowknight
I haven't tried them all but I would have expected that the paladin would be pretty good also, with their wards and healing abilities. So might be worth investigating also.

Heya bud. I have solo'ed My SK all the way to 59. Not really by choice, just my playtime varries due to being a full time worker and student. As an Sk i can take even con mobs 4 levels higher than me no sweat. Mobs that are ^three levels higher than me, and groups of mobs that are with a down arrow 3 levels higher.

SK is a very fun class, A ton of DOT power and good lifetaps to keep you standing. If you get in a little over your head you can evac or feign dead too.

Hope this helps you out

Lifetap, the Lifetap Ward, HT and AoEs seem more appealing than the debuffs and health regen the zerk brings to the table. Toss in FD and Evac, and the deal is sealed

I still have my zerker (42) but he hasnt been played for about 6 months. I have my 70 necro and have just started a SK - (at level 19 atm). I'm enjoying the SK moreso than at any time playing the zerker. The lifetaps etc just make it so much easier to fight and to continue fighting. Even in groups, for some reason my zerker had major power issues (I blame me and my setup of him, not the game for that) whereas with the SK, I havent had a problem thus far with power.

I tired a zerk and it bored me to tears, but that was long ago.

With the additon of the class and subclass AA lines most of the classes can be fairly self-sufficient. My Guard has predominantly solo'd to 65 and can still do low yellows and an an even con one up heroic. Although, the guard really does fare much better in a group.

There's also being a massive amount of solo content added just in the past year or so. Not having to deal with 2 and 3 ups all the time makes the whole came much more solo-friendly. But the best action is still with the group.

I'd have to vote for the SK as well for a solo toon, but I think the Guard and Zerker do better in a group.
