View Full Version : Game won't update or PLAY won't show up
Sorry if this has been addressed before. Search didn't show up what I was looking for. I just reinstalled Vista (32-bit) and now EQ2 won't get updates and my play button won't come up? I turned off my firewall and reset my modem & router. Not sure what else I can do. I did have this running on Vista fine until I had to do a Vista reinstall last night.

Microsoft changed a few settings to Vista that can cause a few issues running some of our games. These instructions will help you load any Windows XP game in Vista: <ol><li>Right click on the program launch icon</li><li>Left click on "Properties".</li><li>In the new window that pops up click on the "Compatibility" tab.</li><li>In the "Compatibility Mode" area check the box next to "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"</li><li>In the drop down list make certain that "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)" is selected.</li><li>Under "Privilege Level" make certain that the box next to "Run this program as administrator" is checked.</li><li>Click on "Apply" then click on "Ok".</li><li>Double click on the program launch icon.</li></ol> This should allow you to run your program under Windows Vista. If you need more support, please let us know.

Thanks for the compatibility reminder. forgot about that one. unfortunately it didn't solve my issue. The game seems to come up ok to the start page. It scans for files then tries to start the auto-updating process and then abruptly stops. it acts like it's being blocked from the internet for some reason. I can browse the internet with no problems. I'm even using Firefox with no issues. any other suggestions are welcome. Tans

Well, if it isn't the compatibility/administrator mode settings, then the only other thing it could be is a firewall (windows firewall or norton/mcafee/etc.) You may need to uninstall any firewall software that may be lingering in the background for the issue to go away.

<p>After some more digging around and tweaking I found this and it seems to have worked, enjoy! Just adjust the acess permissions by right clicking the EQ2 folder as a whole.</p><blockquote><p>I was able to get EQ2 running under Vista by doing the following:</p><p> 1. Make sure you are running the EXE as Admin and using XP-SP2 compatability</p><p> 2. Flagging all files in the ..Sony folder (both launcher and EQ2) as having full access to members of the Users group within Vista.</p><p>I believe the reason for the lp_plugin error and the patcher stopping are do to problems with file permissions. By flagging the Users group to have full access to these files, the patcher can then add/edit/delete these files wihtout erroring.</p><p> This worked for me--hope it helps others as well.</p><p> Quex / The Bazaar</p></blockquote>
