Well I was wondering is it better to start filling up EoF AA's or KoS aa's? I assume Gravecalling and Rotting are the ones to focus on for lifeburn and better pets correct? Moeror

Do you solo/group primarily? The KOS AA tree pretty much sucks. You need to throw away 12 points before you can start pumping up crits, and I wont comment further on the other lines because I'm not sure of your playstyle. I would go EOF first, then KOS once you start getting up there.

i would advise the opposite. go with filling up your KoS tree lines as that one gives more diverse abilities to bufff up you and your pet depending on which trees you looking to open up, personally i settled on wis and int lines for max pet buffs on my mage pet. Whereas the EoF points only marginially increase either resistibility or spell duration timers before you can open up only two new abilities.

I went EoF first mainly because I wanted lifeburn. That is the main thing I would get first. I chose to stay in the EoF line and build up the graverobber line as well. I ended up getting the ooze, but I will probably respect that away as I don't raid that much. I'm at lvl 66 with 66 AAs and EoF lines are full so working on KoS line now.

I agree that the KoS line overall is awful for summoners. The only skill that I consider a must have out of that tree is Animist's transference, which is the second line in Wis tree. For what it costs to max out the crit chance in STR tree, it is not worth it. Remember that crits are not (damage x 2), they are (damage x 1.3). Now, I know there are nuances to the formula but as a general rule that is what a Crit is. So a 10% chance to to 1.3% damage does not justify the 20AA needed to max the ability. You are just as likely to crit dooming darkness as you are siphon life. I recommend putting your first 21 AA in the rotting line on EoF side, because you will see those benefits immediately and they will stay with you for as long as your toon is alive. After that, if you solo, put the next 21 in manipulations for tainted heals. If you group, I would max out INT, put 4 in WIS, and 8 in animists transference. Counting the AA for possess minion, that would be your next 21. When you have 42 AA you'll have a better idea of what kind of player you are and what works for you.

I basically, agree with everything the above poster just said.....

I think the EoF lines are far superior. I'd probably spend 100 in the Eof lines if they let me. I'd love to be able to max out the grave and swarm refresh timers, but with Tainted and Lifeburn...I can't.

I have the crits maxed in KoS basically because I don't have anything else even somewhat useful to put them in. I maxed out the mage line, but would have rather spent those points in EoF upgrading Undead Tide, Consumption, maxing the aforementioned refresh timers, dsiplace life, pretty much anything over there. The only thing I personally thought was good was Shockwave. (And, the first point spent was by far the most valuable)

One 'issue' with the EoF line, is that Tainted Heals is so good for a Necro that solo's, is that you almost have to get it. The problem, while the first 20 points you spend aren't worthless, it is dang close. (maybe the proc chance on Necromantic, but that's about it) So, you spend 20 points on pretty much the air, and then one big point to unlock the taint. I don't personally have a problem with it though, because Tainted heals is so dang good, needs a balancing mechanism.

Lifeburn is fun, and that in itself makes it incredibly useful. If nothing else, I have stopped the Assassin in our guild from talking trash when I bring my necromancer to the raid. 10 of the points preceding Lifeburn are reasonable, 5 of them are bearable, and 5 of them are basically useless. So, you really only waste 5 points getting Lifeburn.

I guess all I am really saying, is if it was me, my first 42 points would go inot EoF, no question. After that, I would put one point into shockwave, after unlocking it on the KoS. Then, I'd put the rest on whatever pet I used the most in groups in the EoF tree, and then maxing the refresh timers for whatever ability was underneath it. However, I wouldn't do it exactly like that....

I would spend the first 20 points however in the world you wanted, but ALL in the EOF tree. After I got my 21st point, I'd respec and get Tainted Heals. Then, I'd do the same thing....the next 20 points, put wherever in the world you want, and fater you get the 21st.....Respec...Get Tainted Heals and Lifeburn. That's just me though.
