Here's my repetoire of MMOs played, and as close to the sequence as I can get, and I keep on getting drawn back into eQ2..

EQ1, EQ2, Planetside, EQ2, City of Heroes, EQ2, Eve Online, EQ2, Guild Wars, EQ2, Auto-Assault, DDO, WoW (sorry!), Vanguard, EQ2,,, and yes, I have LOTR Online on order ! But look forward to coming back to EQ2.

I have played a Monk, Wizard, Coercer, Guardian, Inquisitor, Paladin, but my main is a 52 Conjurer and I keep going back to my Conjurer all the time.

Would be interested to hear others stories, and if anyone has had similar gaming and character swapping experiences.

The moral of my story is,, If you think the grass is greener,, think again! eQ2 is the best that's out there at the moment for loads of reasons, but there's no harm in a reality check every now and then to re-convince yourself.

Looking back at my own short MMORPG history, I tend to jump around I guess. The longest I've spent on any game is probably a year and a half or so. That's why I am amazed to hear people played the original EQ as long as they did. Makes me think I really missed out on something special.

I have a rather short list of MMOs played. EQ1: had to leave before RoK was released. EQ1: had to leave again before SoV EQ1: Luclin era, had to leave again before PoP EQ1: came back before LoY, left for good after LDoN EQ2: left after DoF and the revamp DDO: played for about six months EQ2: returned a few months ago None of the other MMOs have really grabbed my attention. The only other MMO that really intrigues me is Warhammer, since I am a fan of the tabletop game. While I am a huge Tolkien fan, I have never been fond of actually gaming in Middle-Earth. Feels too much like sacred ground to me.

Played UO exclusively for 9+ years and finally uninstalled it this past November when I'd come to the realization that I was completely addicted to EQ2. It had everything that I and many, many others over the years, had been begging the developers of UO for repeatedly. Working factions and PvP. After retiring from UO and before discovering EQ2.. I've tried WoW.. lasted about 2 hours before I felt like I had lost IQ points by exposing myself to it. Uninstalled. Tried Vanguard.. while I'd like to upgrade my video card eventually.. I couldn't justify spending the $200+ just to play a game that I wasn't sure I'd be sticking with or not. Its unplayable with my current video card. Uninstalled. Currently I'm playing EQ2 & Second Life. The latter is more of a past time then a game however. Classes I've tried since joining EQ2 in September.. Brigand (main), Warlock (lvl locked PK), Guardian & Swashie (barely developed toons on a PvE server).

I started with EQ1, and got my mains up to mid 50's. I was also playing a mostly unknown game called Underlight. When EQ2 came out I was on a 28k, (in reality it was more like 16k) dial up and found plaing impossable. I upgraded to a second gen satellite connection and began playing EQ2. I love his game. recently I upgraded my computer to a quad core 2.6 meg with the buggy GTX 8800 vedio card. I went over to Vanguard and played there. Right ow I am about half on Vanguard and half on EQ2. I completely stoped playing EQ1 as there are just to few players left in the game to group and have fun. EQ1 really needs to combine more servers so more people will be in game. By the way I play every night and weekend (much to the surgin of me wife) and average over about 30 hours play a week, between the two games.

Zar

IMO, EQ2 is the best thing on the around atm. It's taken time, but the devs usually keep making changes in the right direction.

Ultima Online, Everquest (hated it), Planetside, Starwars Galaxies, Anarchy Online, Asheron's Call, Asheron's Call 2, Vanguard, Lord of the Rings Online, Dungeons and Dragons Online, Silkroad Online, Hero Online, Archlord, Flyff, Space Cowboy, Lineage 2, World of Warcraft, Auto Assault, City of Heroes/Villains, Guildwars, Eve Online, I know I'm forgetting some.. The ones I played the longest were Ultima Online, Anarchy Online then World of Warcraft, the others were all just filler along the way. I hated EQ1 but after doing the EQ2 trial a few times over the last few years and not liking it I finally (out of desperation for a new mmo) played it though to the end and realized this is a really good game. So I bought my copy and after playing most of this week am very happy. I just wish more people played Nothing worse than an amazing game that dies due to lack of interest (Tribes Vengeance *cough*) Hopefully EQ2 can keep me busy until the end of the year when warhammer comes out.

My Playing History:

I played EQ1 for a few years, with huge breaks in playtime. Played around the Luclin era, and the LDoN. My main was only a 34 rogue (so I was an eternal noob.. lol) I Played EQ2 from launch, until the server merge/KoS. I played EQ2 pretty heavily. After the server merge, I took a break, and played some DDO (arg), then came back during the summer to EQ2 but created some toons on the pVp server. Played them throughout the summer, then took another break in Sept (when I got a puppy). During that break I did some beta testing for Vangard, wasn't a huge fan, and it made me miss eq2, so I came back to EQ2 in March, and have been loving it! Toons: I am a rogue. I started a swashbuckler, and played him from the start (back when swashies couldn't even solo blue solo mobs). I have a druid alt who i play from time to time, but he's almost 3 years old, and only 48. On the PvP server i tried something new, and went with a Monk and a Ranger, and both of them leveled super fast, but I was constantly missing my rogue/Swashie. i'm back playing my Swashie, and love it.

MUDs, EQ, DAoC, EQ, CoH, EQ, EQ2 beta, AO, CoH, WoW, EQ, AO, EQ2, EQ, Vanguard beta, WoW, EQ, MUDs, CoH, EQ2. I think that's the order, might throw in another EQ to CoH to EQ round in there just to be sure

EQ is the game I keep going back to but a combination of the age of the game, the top heavy population, the near necessity of multiple accounts and the "raid or die" design of it coupled with server population issues means I don't go back for long. I played EQ off and on for 7 years, it may finally have run its course for me.

EQ2 is still a "new" game for me, even though it is my third time back. I hated it in beta. I liked it when I came back after the initial revamp but the boyfriend didn't and I wanted to play a game with him. That and I was in my "raid" playstyle phase and EQ2 just didn't do it for me in that regard. This time around I'm casual girl with many alts and the boyfriend has discovered the fun of tradeskills. The game has aged into something that fits me really well and I'm enjoying it immensely. Now if I could just figure out if I want to join a guild or not...

I have two mains, one for when I'm playing alone (my Warden) and one for when I'm duo'ing (my Brigand). I usually play a healer or a rogue type so I'm not exactly straying far from my comfort zone. I have the other four slots filled already with tradeskill/mess around alts which is a pity, I'd like to try something new but I'm am far too attached to my little lowbie army to hit that delete button.

I played EQ for 3 years took a year off and then played for another year. I have a couple of enchanters in the 60+ range. I would get that far then discover that I hated the play options at that point. When I left EQ this last time several guild members told me I would love EQ2 but real life wouldn't allow until recently. I have to say I love the play style options in EQ2 so far. I have 2 illustionists in their 20's. The game feels like a "special" version of Everquest: II. You know, special in that "paper circles" way. I swear nobody on that game (aside from my friends, who despite their sins are pretty intelligent) has an IQ over 4.6.

Well, my first MMO ever was EQ1, my cousin was trying to get me into it. I was so sure it could not be better than the FF3 SNES Rom i was playing at the time. He made me an erudite Necromancer, I hated it. Then I remade my necromancer as a Dark Elf and fell in love! Played EQ1 for 5 years (from 12-17 lol) and quit just before Ykesha came out.So I went EQ1>Guild Wars>Some game where you can play as a big plasma ogre thing, a frog, and some other stuff and you shoot things and fly around on jet packs, it had horrible graffics and I can't remember what it was called>WoW(Beta and Retail for 2.5 years)>Vanguard Beta and retail (retail for like... a week it was horrible)> EQ2 play the Fae trial, then back to WoW, and now here I am back on EQ2 and LOVING it! Still very new, but it's really awesome!

My first MMO was EQ1, started just after SOV and stayed until DON(no idea how long that span is, I *think* SOV came out in 99?), during / since then i've played COH & COV, DDO, LOtR, WOW, Guild Wars, Lineage II and EQ2Don't currently have a main, I've been trying out different classes to see whats sticks, have a 21 Ogre SK, 20 Barb BZ, 20 Erasi AS, 15 DE Necro and a 15 DE Wiz.. heh kinda all over the place

started playing EQ2 at release but quit after about 2 months, started playing again about a month ago.. and am having the most fun i've had since the early days of EQ1..

(Not necessarily in order because I can't remember all the times I switched back and forth, nor can I remember exact release dates of xpacs, etc)

UO for a while, less than a year -- EQ1 from release until shortly after SoL -- AC -- DAoC from release until ToA killed the game -- AO -- Back to EQ1 shortly after LDoN -- AC2 (terrible game) -- WoW from release -- Tried EQ2 but went back to WoW until shortly after TBC came out.

Back to EQ2 and I have no plans on changing. I did fire up EQ1 for a month on my Station account not too long ago, but I just couldn't get back into it. The UI felt "wrong" for some reason, and the world seemed a bit dead, probably because of the top-heavy population.

My story covers around 3,5 years. I am still a kid in most of you guys eyes, but i´ve played as following

Runescape for around a year ( .. Yeah i know)

WoW for around 7months then left,

Lots of small minor MMOs like Mu online for about 2 months

guildwars for around 2,5 months

Returned to WoW for around 6 months ( had some friends there.. )

Then it finnaly hit me that WoW was just the same grinding and hitting 2 2 2 2 2 3 4 2 5 2 all the time.

2 months time where i didnt play an MMO i played some neverwinter nights 2 and stuff

I finnaly found it: I now play Everquest 2 and have played for a month and so far...
Ive basically played all MMOGS mentioned here including LOTRO but ive only played EQ 2 a short time. Before eq 2 and yes Im going to say it I thought wow was easily the best. Thats personal preferance I realise but it had lots of good quests and thats what I think a big part of MMOGS should be about. In saying that I dont like saying I played wow on this forum as with the wow community being so big theres a significant number of them really immature and nubile. Im actually 28 and love my games and just to finalise this post I will say that since getting EQ 2 im loving it and comparing the 16 lvls Ive played of eq 2 to the 16 lvls of wow as a fair comparison, Im thinking EQ 2 is much better and has more to offer than wow. This isnt some bias fanboy opinion as if I thought differant I would say. I genuinly think EQ 2 is a better game. I actually stayed away from eq 2 because in so many other MMOGGS I joined I saw claims that this MMOGG and that MMOGG are better than wow but EQ 2 is the first I believe is living up to this.

As Ive mentioned numerous times judging EQ 2 in its current state and giving it a 7 in main reviews seems very unfair as some of the other MMOGGS which got reviewed 7 are terrible to the utmost degree which EQ 2 is not.

Every other game I've tried jsut felt like it lacked something. sure, some of them do one thing extremely well, but the rest is just... Meh. In eq2, I dont really have the feeling that any one thing is done extremely well, its more a feeling that the wholeness is extremely well done. And the fact that most things are well done if not excellent does help. the MMOs I've been to are as follows; EQ2, WoW, EQ2, AO, EQ2, Wurm3D, EQ2. With the advent of pvp in eq2, I havent really gone anywhere else. It just hit the mark for me. Before, you got kinda fed up with running quests, dungeons, collections and what not. PvP, and to some extent aas, just made the game hit the mark for me. I never even got excited about VSoH since pretty much all screenshots looked the same (which usually mean that the game doesnt really look like the screenshots, or a bad variety in the game and it always looks exactly like the screenshots) and well, it just seemed to be EQ2.5. With all that meant. things like a bug ridden release and all, and since eq2 were already there with the major bugs taken care of, and 2 years of further development, I didnt really see the point with VSoH. Another game that actually caught my eye was AoC. And I'll probably try it out, but I got rather put off with the no world pvp deal. :/
