I just came back from a long, long time of not playing. And I have a few questions... 1. I want to make a Fae Warlock (or Dirge), but I don't want to be a Goodie. I want to switch to evil, I believe it's called betraying. If, I do this will I get to keep my class? And does anyone know where I can find a guide on how to go about this? (I donno if I'm allowed to ask for a guide.) Or can someone point me in the right direction of the NPC to start this. And whats the lowest level you can be to betray? 2. If I choose to betray, will I find all the class/spell NPCs I need? In addition will people notice right away that I switched? 3. Will I be able to talk to the evil team if I betray? And will my bank/house and other things come along with me? Also, will I get a new house (like the one I start with) or will I need to buy one? 4. I understand that once I betray, I will need to get faction withe Freeport. Can somone who has done this tell me how hard is it to get the Freeport people talking to me like a normal citizen? 5. Is there any kinda "add-ons" that are legal (as in world of warcraft) that people would recommended? 6. How good are Warlocks at soloing in the lower and mid levels? 7. How good are Dirges are soloing etc...etc...? On a completely different note, is there any kind of /mp3 command in EQ2? I know there was one in EQ1, and it was real nice, is there anything like this in EQ2?

1) Yes, you would be able to stay a warlock or dirge (the classes that can stay the same are wizard, warlock, troubador, dirge, guardian, berserker, fury, warden for reference). There probably are guides, look through these forums or someone else can probably link one. You can start betraying at level 10 I think. Note: when you betray all your spells get set to App1 level even if you stay the same class, so dont go scribing Adept3's and Masters before you betray.

2) yep, youll get your spells the same way you always do, people probably wont really notice youve switched, the only give away will be the fact youre a fairy in freeport (ie. when youre in the city, there'll be nothing notice-ably different when youre out xping).

3) evil team? does this mean youre on a pvp server, if you are they I presume you would be able to, itd be silly otherwise. You will have to buy a new house but the starter rooms are free to buy anyways, though you do need to empty your old house and relinquish it. Stuff in the bank stays there but you wouldn't be able to access the shared bit for qeynos anymore, so you need to move anything in the shared bank that you want to keep.

4) theres a bunch of faction quests, havent done them so cant comment.

5) eq2 maps is great, thats the only one I use, and many other people also do. There are many other UI mods out there as well, but I cant comment on them cos I use the default EQ one.

6) no idea

7) I soloed most of my 70 levels with my dirge, I found it fun, though taking on heroics is not a good idea, I can solo some heroics that are virtually grey (ie. just green) but not many - so soloing is perfectly doable as long as you stick to solo encounters.

8 ) mp3 command - not that I know of

Looks like Rokaab answered most of your questions already! Just to fill in a couple blanks/add a little more detail to some ...

4) I haven't done Kelethin to Freeport betrayal but I've done Freeport to Qeynos and Qeynos to Freeport. Assuming it works the same way, you'll end up talking to an NPC who will offer you a series of quests to do each of which rewards you with faction in varying amounts from a couple hundred to +5000 at a time. When you're kicked out of your starting city your faction with all 3 cities is set to -50,000, and you need to get it up to +10,000 with the city you want to move to before you can complete the betrayal quest. So, a little math will show you that the minimum number of faction quests you'll have to do is 12, assuming you only do the +5000 faction ones. But, as mentioned, there's a wide choice of quests and if you have trouble with one or don't like them, pick another. Some classes will naturally find some quest types easier than others so play around.

Here's a Kelethin betrayal quest walkthrough for you. If you don't want to spoil all the surprises then I'll just tell you that to start your betrayal, go talk with Saelir Varryn, who is located on one of the south-eastern platforms of the city at +224, +112, +400. He'll happily lead you astray from there.

5) http://www.eq2interface.com has pretty much anything you want, and yes they're quite permitted in EQ2. The maps one is really the only one I'd call essential and I definitely agree that's worth getting. Apart from that ... personal preference really! I don't bother, but many do.

6) Decent I think but not the absolute best or worst. As long as you can keep something rooted you should be able to kill it, just watch out for damage-over-time spells which have a chance at breaking root on each pulse of the DoT. Single direct-damage spells are safest for using with root. Alternately pick a big group of weak things that you can take a few hits from, and AoE your heart out.

7) I too soloed a dirge into the 50s, no big problems, Rokaab again summarized it pretty well. Running through some of the solo quest lines is a great way to level up fast and get lots of achievement XP too.

And no MP3 player, pretty sure of this. I think the dev comment I read was along the lines that there's nothing for them to gain by adding functionality that doesn't affect the game in the slightest, already exists in many many forms outside the game, and would just distract them from actually contentrating ON the game if there are any bugs they'd then have to fix. But my memory could be hazy on the exact details of what was said.

It's possible the Freeporters will never view you as a 'normal citizen', specially if you go into certain of the racial suburbs, but if you do enough of the various Wruts you should see a noticable improvement in how they treat you (nice to hear nice things when going past some of the wandering guards, wonder how they will treat me once ah've reached the first faction lvl at +10K)
