ok whats the deal. I have now a 23 wiz. root is at ad3. i hit mob 2 times ( root breaks but thats not a big deal ) What my real question is, i thought wiz was t1. but in last day, i have been od'ed by everyhting from a necro to a sk. ( necro no biggie, he was 29 mentored. ) but sk ? thought sk damage stunk? he was only 25 and i was burning all out. dont know if he was mastered or not.

If your suggesting wizards don't do enough damage your insane. I saw a 59 wizard today go up to Spycharis chain him. Debuff him. Hit him with a Freehand catalyst Ice comet for 11,687 damage. Ball of fire. Then mana burned the remaining 50% life he had. It wasn't even a challenge. Wizzy is the only class that can do things like that. You are T1 DPS. Your problem is most likely the mobs are dying too fast and your casting your big damage spells. Try putting Ice Shield. or whatever it's called on the tank right as he pulls. then your DoT debuff. then cycle your DoT spells. Then throw in a nuke.

its possible, i was trying to burn thru the damage spells. ball of fire, plasma, nother one that hits for 400. then the shield one. bu that time i was able to recast plasma then ball of fire. and mob was dead

To be fair, wizards don't really come into their place until they are 50.

Wizards ARE tier 1 dps if they are played correctly - perhaps you should take a look at your casting order. And yes, you will probably start to feel the power of the wizard around level 50; before that they "feel" pretty weak. If you are concerned about your dps you might also consider using a parser. It can help a lot to go back over your damage profile and see what spell is doing what (amount of) damage - you might be surprised, e.g., Iceshield is incredibly dps-friendly. I would also suggest taking a look at the wizard parse thread here in this forum - while the parses posted there may seem utopic, that thread contains much useful information on casting order, stats, aa-combinations, sought after equipment, and other methods of maximizing your dps. Also, you might want to take a closer look at your (and your equipment's) stats than at your adventure level. Are you maximizing your INT? Are your caster stats, like subjugation and focus, maxed out? If not, they should be. Adept3s are good (pretty much the minimum if you are trying to do max dps), Masters are better. I would just like to add that there are very few (if any) classes that can consistently pump out the dps that wizards can (with the right aa-lines: root -> debuff -> ice nova -> ball of fire -> manaburn = dead heroic mob). Keep at it and you'll get there too!

Next level, you get your choice of 4 master II 's, one of which is Ball of Fire...you'll jump up in DPS then.

Also, always cast Iceshield on the MT b4 he pulls. And use Piercing Icycles line before your big nukes...the dmg increase is significant.

If you want EASY dps, then wizzie prolly isn't the class for you. 100% of your dmg comes from your own casting (no pet, no autoattack of consequence, etc). If ur like me, and you like to work for it, then wizzie can be a VERY fun class to play...fun to drop 3 heroic mobs at once with a good Fusion (lvl 65).
